Michael Nash Design Build & Homes created a new stunning screen porch with dramatic color tones, a rustic country style furniture setting, a new fireplace, and entertainment space for large sporting event or family gatherings.
The old window from the dining room was converted into French doors to allow better flow in and out of home. Wood looking porcelain tile compliments the stone wall of the fireplace. A double stacked fireplace was installed with a ventless stainless unit inside of screen porch and wood burning fireplace just below in the stoned patio area. A big screen TV was mounted over the mantel.
Beaded panel ceiling covered the tall cathedral ceiling, lots of lights, craftsman style ceiling fan and hanging lights complimenting the wicked furniture has set this screen porch area above any project in its class.
Just outside of the screen area is the Trex covered deck with a pergola given them a grilling and outdoor seating space. Through a set of wrapped around staircase the upper deck now is connected with the magnificent Lower patio area. All covered in flagstone and stone retaining wall, shows the outdoor entertaining option in the lower level just outside of the basement French doors. Hanging out in this relaxing porch the family and friends enjoy the stunning view of their wooded backyard.

Shuler ArchitectureSited on a sloping and densely wooded lot along the Potomac River in the Falcon Ridge neighborhood where exceptional architecture on large, verdant lots is the norm, the owners of this new home required a plan flexible enough to accommodate a growing family, a variety of in-home entertainment options, and recreational pursuits for children and their friends. Stylistically, our clients desired an historic aesthetic reminiscent of an English baronial manor that projects the traditional values and culture of Virginia and Washington D.C. In short, this is a trophy home meant to convey power, status and wealth. Due to site constraints, house size, and a basement sport court, we employed a straightforward structural scheme overlaid with a highly detailed exterior and interior envelope.
Featuring six fireplaces, coffered ceilings, a two-story entry foyer complete with a custom entry door, our solution employs a series of formally organized principal rooms overlooking private terraces and a large tract of pre-civil war Black Walnut trees. The large formal living area, dubbed the Hunt Room, is the home’s show piece space and is finished with cherry wainscoting, a Rumford fireplace, media center, full wet bar, antique-glass cabinetry and two sets of French doors leading to an outdoor dining terrace. The Kitchen features floor-to-ceiling cabinetry, top of the line appliances, walk-in pantry and a family-dining area. The sunken family room boasts custom built-ins, expansive picture windows, wood-burning fireplace and access to the conservatory which warehouses a grand piano in a radiused window bay overlooking the side yard.

Often homeowners want a covered area as well as an uncovered area. With the corner bell pergola, this space has it all.

The project features a one of a kind octagonal porch area along with a top of the line outdoor kitchen with a white pergola. Matthew Fowler, ArchitectA traditional pergola with cast stone Doric columns and mahogany trellis to provide shelter at the entry. The wood french doors are mahogany stained, and the wood louvered shutters are painted a traditional dark green. The stucco is a warm yellow, and the terrace is paved with natural travertine tile.

Archadeck of AustinAt the other end of the pergola, we built new stone columns around the pergola’s support posts. Those columns flank the new rectangular gas-burning fire pit we built for this space. Instead of building the columns and stone fire pit on the existing concrete patio, we built this structure OFF the patio. We peeled back the AstroTurf next to the patio and placed the new stone structure here to avoid losing usable patio space.
BernardonThis Charming outdoor room has a Mediterranean feel with its stone and brick arcade and stained Pergola beamed ceiling. It connects the Formal Dining Room, the Informal Dining Area and the Family room, and provides access to the landscaped rear yard and garden area. It features custom made wrought iron brackets and a patterned stone floor.
