Thelen Total ConstructionThis view of the kitchen shows both the serving bar island and the working island. The well equipped work island has a microwave, steam oven and sink. In view also, is the Butler Pantry, with plenty of countertop space to prep, a sink and a dishwasher - to keep the kitchen messes from view.
Bilotta Kitchen & HomeFor this project, the entire kitchen was designed around the “must-have” Lacanche range in the stunning French Blue with brass trim. That was the client’s dream and everything had to be built to complement it. Bilotta senior designer, Randy O’Kane, CKD worked with Paul Benowitz and Dipti Shah of Benowitz Shah Architects to contemporize the kitchen while staying true to the original house which was designed in 1928 by regionally noted architect Franklin P. Hammond. The clients purchased the home over two years ago from the original owner. While the house has a magnificent architectural presence from the street, the basic systems, appointments, and most importantly, the layout and flow were inappropriately suited to contemporary living.
The new plan removed an outdated screened porch at the rear which was replaced with the new family room and moved the kitchen from a dark corner in the front of the house to the center. The visual connection from the kitchen through the family room is dramatic and gives direct access to the rear yard and patio. It was important that the island separating the kitchen from the family room have ample space to the left and right to facilitate traffic patterns, and interaction among family members. Hence vertical kitchen elements were placed primarily on existing interior walls. The cabinetry used was Bilotta’s private label, the Bilotta Collection – they selected beautiful, dramatic, yet subdued finishes for the meticulously handcrafted cabinetry. The double islands allow for the busy family to have a space for everything – the island closer to the range has seating and makes a perfect space for doing homework or crafts, or having breakfast or snacks. The second island has ample space for storage and books and acts as a staging area from the kitchen to the dinner table. The kitchen perimeter and both islands are painted in Benjamin Moore’s Paper White. The wall cabinets flanking the sink have wire mesh fronts in a statuary bronze – the insides of these cabinets are painted blue to match the range. The breakfast room cabinetry is Benjamin Moore’s Lampblack with the interiors of the glass cabinets painted in Paper White to match the kitchen. All countertops are Vermont White Quartzite from Eastern Stone. The backsplash is Artistic Tile’s Kyoto White and Kyoto Steel. The fireclay apron-front main sink is from Rohl while the smaller prep sink is from Linkasink. All faucets are from Waterstone in their antique pewter finish. The brass hardware is from Armac Martin and the pendants above the center island are from Circa Lighting. The appliances, aside from the range, are a mix of Sub-Zero, Thermador and Bosch with panels on everything.
Traci Connell InteriorsThis drop dead gorgeous kitchen encompasses custom white cabinetry, quartz and marble countertops, and a custom designed backsplash inset at the stove top. The curved banquette is a special touch to the sitting breakfast nook and the yellow chandelier brings it all together. The hearth sitting area is a nice place to stop and drink a cup of coffee while enjoying the beauty of this kitchen.
Visbeen ArchitectsLeave a legacy. Reminiscent of Tuscan villas and country homes that dot the lush Italian countryside, this enduring European-style design features a lush brick courtyard with fountain, a stucco and stone exterior and a classic clay tile roof. Roman arches, arched windows, limestone accents and exterior columns add to its timeless and traditional appeal.
The equally distinctive first floor features a heart-of-the-home kitchen with a barrel-vaulted ceiling covering a large central island and a sitting/hearth room with fireplace. Also featured are a formal dining room, a large living room with a beamed and sloped ceiling and adjacent screened-in porch and a handy pantry or sewing room. Rounding out the first-floor offerings are an exercise room and a large master bedroom suite with his-and-hers closets. A covered terrace off the master bedroom offers a private getaway. Other nearby outdoor spaces include a large pergola and terrace and twin two-car garages.
The spacious lower-level includes a billiards area, home theater, a hearth room with fireplace that opens out into a spacious patio, a handy kitchenette and two additional bedroom suites. You’ll also find a nearby playroom/bunk room and adjacent laundry.
Bilotta Kitchen & HomeThis kitchen is a result of updating a Tudor-style home with a more modern aesthetic. The 12’ island, with a Super White Pental Quartz countertop, is larger than the kitchen was prior to the renovation. A combination of finishes were used – dark horizontal grain cabinetry mixed with a horizontal, grainier pattern for the island and range wall (horizontal patterns were used to emphasize the length of the room). The wall cabinets are steel and glass to lighten up the back wall with Calcutta Gold Marble backsplash from Artistic Tile. The range wall is the most used area, with a Kyoto Steel tile backsplash. The 48” professional series range is flanked by spice drawers, a large pantry (left), and the 30” refrigerator (right). A secondary sink was placed behind the chef with a knife block and knife drawer for easy food prep. The opposite end of the island is for entertaining – with the bar, tall freezer column, and wine cooler.
