Jordan Design-Build GroupOur clients wanted to add an ensuite bathroom to their charming 1950’s Cape Cod, but they were reluctant to sacrifice the only closet in their owner’s suite. The hall bathroom they’d been sharing with their kids was also in need of an update so we took this into consideration during the design phase to come up with a creative new layout that would tick all their boxes.
By relocating the hall bathroom, we were able to create an ensuite bathroom with a generous shower, double vanity, and plenty of space left over for a separate walk-in closet. We paired the classic look of marble with matte black fixtures to add a sophisticated, modern edge. The natural wood tones of the vanity and teak bench bring warmth to the space. A frosted glass pocket door to the walk-through closet provides privacy, but still allows light through. We gave our clients additional storage by building drawers into the Cape Cod’s eave space.
Crystal Kitchen + BathA beautifully remodeled primary bathroom ensuite inspired by the homeowner’s European travels.
This spacious bathroom was dated and had a cold cave like shower. The homeowner desired a beautiful space with a European feel, like the ones she discovered on her travels to Europe. She also wanted a privacy door separating the bathroom from her bedroom.
The designer opened up the closed off shower by removing the soffit and dark cabinet next to the shower to add glass and let light in. Now the entire room is bright and airy with marble look porcelain tile throughout. The archway was added to frame in the under-mount tub. The double vanity in a soft gray paint and topped with Corian Quartz compliments the marble tile. The new chandelier along with the chrome fixtures add just the right amount of luxury to the room. Now when you come in from the bedroom you are enticed to come in and stay a while in this beautiful space.
Brooke Sipe InteriorsSerene and inviting, this primary bathroom received a full renovation with new, modern amenities. A custom white oak vanity and low maintenance stone countertop provides a clean and polished space. Handmade tiles combined with soft brass fixtures, creates a luxurious shower for two. The generous, sloped, soaking tub allows for relaxing baths by candlelight. The result is a soft, neutral, timeless bathroom retreat.
Drewett WorksIn this grand master bathroom, a multi-tiered chandelier hanging above the tub serves as a focal point to draw the eye up to the clerestory windows. Adding to the glam appeal is a white textured porcelain tile tub wall. The light fixture is "Mizu" from Terzani.

We added cozy, comfortable furnishings and plenty of seating in the living room for family get-togethers. The bedroom was designed to create a soft, soothing appeal with a neutral beige theme, natural textures, and beautiful artwork. In the bathroom, the freestanding bathtub creates an attractive focal point, making it a space for relaxation and rejuvenation. We also designed a lovely sauna – a luxurious addition to the home. In the large kitchen, we added stylish countertops, pendant lights, and stylish chairs, making it a great space to hang out.

Kimberlee Marie InteriorsWhen our clients approached us about this project, they had a large vacant lot and a set of architectural plans in hand, and they needed our help to envision the interior of their dream home. As a busy family with young kids, they relied on KMI to help identify a design style that suited both of them and served their family's needs and lifestyle. One of the biggest challenges of the project was finding ways to blend their varying aesthetic desires, striking just the right balance between bright and cheery and rustic and moody. We also helped develop the exterior color scheme and material selections to ensure the interior and exterior of the home were cohesive and spoke to each other. With this project being a new build, there was not a square inch of the interior that KMI didn't touch.
In our material selections throughout the home, we sought to draw on the surrounding nature as an inspiration. The home is situated on a large lot with many large pine trees towering above. The goal was to bring some natural elements inside and make the house feel like it fits in its rustic setting. It was also a goal to create a home that felt inviting, warm, and durable enough to withstand all the life a busy family would throw at it. Slate tile floors, quartz countertops made to look like cement, rustic wood accent walls, and ceramic tiles in earthy tones are a few of the ways this was achieved.
There are so many things to love about this home, but we're especially proud of the way it all came together. The mix of materials, like iron, stone, and wood, helps give the home character and depth and adds warmth to some high-contrast black and white designs throughout the home. Anytime we do something truly unique and custom for a client, we also get a bit giddy, and the light fixture above the dining room table is a perfect example of that. A labor of love and the collaboration of design ideas between our client and us produced the one-of-a-kind fixture that perfectly fits this home. Bringing our client's dreams and visions to life is what we love most about being designers, and this project allowed us to do just that.

A tired primary bathroom, with varying ceiling heights and a beige-on-beige color scheme, was screaming for love. Squaring the room and adding natural materials erased the memory of the lack luster space and converted it to a bright and welcoming spa oasis. The home was a new build in 2005 and it looked like all the builder’s material choices remained. The client was clear on their design direction but were challenged by the differing ceiling heights and were looking to hire a design-build firm that could resolve that issue.
This local Glen Ellyn couple found us on Instagram (@kitchenstudioge, follow us ?). They loved our designs and felt like we fit their style. They requested a full primary bath renovation to include a large shower, soaking tub, double vanity with storage options, and heated floors. The wife also really wanted a separate make-up vanity. The biggest challenge presented to us was to architecturally marry the various ceiling heights and deliver a streamlined design.
The existing layout worked well for the couple, so we kept everything in place, except we enlarged the shower and replaced the built-in tub with a lovely free-standing model. We also added a sitting make-up vanity. We were able to eliminate the awkward ceiling lines by extending all the walls to the highest level. Then, to accommodate the sprinklers and HVAC, lowered the ceiling height over the entrance and shower area which then opens to the 2-story vanity and tub area. Very dramatic!
This high-end home deserved high-end fixtures. The homeowners also quickly realized they loved the look of natural marble and wanted to use as much of it as possible in their new bath. They chose a marble slab from the stone yard for the countertops and back splash, and we found complimentary marble tile for the shower. The homeowners also liked the idea of mixing metals in their new posh bathroom and loved the look of black, gold, and chrome.
Although our clients were very clear on their style, they were having a difficult time pulling it all together and envisioning the final product. As interior designers it is our job to translate and elevate our clients’ ideas into a deliverable design. We presented the homeowners with mood boards and 3D renderings of our modern, clean, white marble design. Since the color scheme was relatively neutral, at the homeowner’s request, we decided to add of interest with the patterns and shapes in the room.
We were first inspired by the shower floor tile with its circular/linear motif. We designed the cabinetry, floor and wall tiles, mirrors, cabinet pulls, and wainscoting to have a square or rectangular shape, and then to create interest we added perfectly placed circles to contrast with the rectangular shapes. The globe shaped chandelier against the square wall trim is a delightful yet subtle juxtaposition.
The clients were overjoyed with our interpretation of their vision and impressed with the level of detail we brought to the project. It’s one thing to know how you want a space to look, but it takes a special set of skills to create the design and see it thorough to implementation. Selecting bathroom decor such as cabinets, mirrors, shelves or other furniture for bathrooms can be tricky. You want to consider the storage they offer while also making sure they make an attractive feature as you enter your bathroom. Don’t forget you need them to be durable and withstand the damp conditions, e.g. if you’re going for a painted cabinet make sure the paint is suitable for baths. For medicine cabinets you will find most have mirrored fronts, but you can find extra features such as clocks and shaving sockets built-in.What bathroom storage ideas should I look at?

After you’ve made sure your light fittings are safe and to-code, you can consider the type and style you’d like as your working through your bathroom ideas.
