A custom metal range hood with granite back splash are 2 of the interesting features in this Century home kitchen remodel. Also notice the coffered ceiling and porcelain tile floor, mimicking woo and marble, and set in a diagonal pattern. Michael Jacob Photography

The old Kitchen had natural wood cabinets that extended to the ceiling and dark stone countertops. Kitchen remodel within the existing 12′ x 13′ footprint. By vaulting the ceilings, neutralizing the palette and adding skylights, we brought in more volume and light to the space. These elements along with the window over the sink make the space feel much larger and lighter.

A gorgeous hardwood floor is contrasted with the crisp white of this kitchen’s ceiling and cabinetry. A hefty, 3” flat-edge countertop offers the perfect surface for preparing meals and a small station is located at the below the island where the dogs can come to drink water.

This older home was broken up into many small rooms including a cramped kitchen. San Luis Kitchen opened up the floor plan -- doubling the size of the kitchen and creating large openings into the adjacent dining and living areas. Black counters, white cabinets, and grayn walls are set offf by decorative splashes of red -- making a kitchen where the family wants to gather. San Luis Kitchen Co.

The kitchen at CieloMar residence has an industrial look featuring stainless steel Miton Cucine cabinets with Viking appliances. There is a balance between the stainless steel the more subtle look of the cream cabinets with granite counters. The picture windows in this room provide a glimpse to the ocean view while still maintaining a high level of privacy. //Paul Domzal/edgemediaprod.com
