This Art Deco white kitchen was installed into a 1930s block – with the intention of creating a kitchen in keeping with its era, without looking too theatrically deco. The result is a striking black and white look that acknowledges and celebrates the era, yet is updated to contemporary standards and practicalities.

When we started this project, opening up the kitchen to the surrounding space was not an option. Instead, the 10-foot ceilings gave us an opportunity to create a glamorous room with all of the amenities of an open floor plan.
The beautiful sunny breakfast nook and adjacent formal dining offer plenty of seats for family and guests in this modern home. Our clients, none the less, love to sit at their new island for breakfast, keeping each other company while cooking, reading a new recipe or simply taking a well-deserved coffee break. The gorgeous custom cabinetry is a combination of horizontal grain walnut base and tall cabinets with glossy white upper cabinets that create an open feeling all the way up the walls. Caesarstone countertops and backsplash join together for a nearly seamless transition. The Subzero and Thermador appliances match the quality of the home and the cooks themselves! Finally, the heated natural limestone floors keep this room welcoming all year long. Alicia Gbur Photography

This blue open plan kitchen features a bespoke Tom Howley island. It’s the perfect spot for preparing an evening meal, whilst taking in the views of your idyllic garden. The innovative induction hob technology and integrated cooktop extractor means that you will find cooking has never been more intuitive. The contrasting tones of our relaxed blue, Azurite and pure white, Sorrel create a stylish and well-balanced space that’s subtly discerning.

The concept of mixing the colours of doors in kitchens seems to have exploded in popularity in the last few years. Some go for bold and in your face, whilst others like a more understated approach. In this kitchen the latter of these two has been observed. For much of the kitchen, a simple White Gloss Manston door with glass effect edging has been utilised to lift and brighten the kitchen, adding in just a touch of shape and dimension with a Gloss Graphite door in the same range on one wall. Using a slightly different approach with handles, the stainless-steel profile handle sitting atop the door means that the kitchen remains sleek and also safe without taking away from the overall look.
With all those square edges of the doors and handles, the worktops needed to be softened with curves. Not only a stunning look, but ergonomically crafted to enable safe passage through the kitchen. Large drawers to the right of the cooker give easy and ready access to all sorts of items requiring storage. Whether it be pots & pans, crockery or even food, these drawers are a boon to the frequent kitchen user as easy access storage. No need to start rooting in the back of a cupboard for that colander anymore!
Overall, the kitchen is practical, ergonomically well designed and with the finishing touches of tiling and flooring, most importantly, a beautiful space to spend time in.

This European kitchen has several different areas and functions. Each area has its own specific details but are tied together with distinctive farmhouse feel, created by combining medium wood and white cabinetry, different styles of cabinetry, mixed metals, warm, earth toned tile floors, blue granite countertops and a subtle blue and white backsplash. The hand-hammered copper counter on the peninsula ties in with the hammered copper farmhouse sink. The blue azul granite countertops have a deep layer of texture and beautifully play off the blue and white Italian tile backsplash and accent wall. The high gloss black hood was custom-made and has chrome banding. The French Lacanche stove has soft gold controls. This kitchen also has radiant heat under its earth toned limestone floors. A special feature of this kitchen is the wood burning stove. Part of the original 1904 house, we repainted it and set it on a platform. We made the platform a cohesive part of the space defining wall by using a herringbone pattern trim, fluted porcelain tile and crown moulding with roping. The office area’s built in desk and cabinets provide a convenient work and storage space. Topping the room off is a coffered ceiling.
In this classic English Tudor home located in Penn Valley, PA, we renovated the kitchen, mudroom, deck, patio, and the exterior walkways and driveway. The European kitchen features high end finishes and appliances, and heated floors for year-round comfort! The outdoor areas are spacious and inviting. The open trellis over the hot tub provides just the right amount of shelter. These clients were referred to us by their architect, and we had a great time working with them to mix classic European styles in with contemporary, current spaces.

Rhona and David Randall’s 1986 home near Basingstoke, North Hampshire originally had a kitchen with a separate utility room attached, which meant that their kitchen space was somewhat limited to being a functional kitchen and not the kitchen, dining, living space that they could use to entertain friends and family in.
It was important to then create a new utility space for the family within the newly enlarged kitchen dining room, and Rhona commented:
“Mark then designed in a Utility/Laundry Cupboard that is now hidden away behind bi-fold doors and is a much better use of space and now has our washing machine, tumble dryer and water softener. It was also his idea to take off the kitchen door leading into the hallway, which now gives a better flow to the room. Mark then designed in another bi-fold door to hide away the big fridge freezer and to use part of that area for coats.”

The kitchen floors are made of reclaimed French limestone in a random pattern that evokes a worn and aged patina when coupled with the pecky cypress wood ceilings. The kitchen and butler's pantry were one of the first installations in the United States using cabinetry by Promemoria of Milan. The beautiful Promemoria modern cabinet details and finishes juxtapose nicely with the aged finishes and give the rooms a fresh contemporary look.
