The owners of this stately Adams Morgan rowhouse wanted to reconfigure rooms on the two upper levels and create a better layout for the nursery, guest room and au pair bathroom on the second floor. Our crews fully gutted and reframed the floors and walls of the front rooms, taking the opportunity of open walls to increase energy-efficiency with spray foam insulation at exposed exterior walls. The middle bedroom on the second floor serves as a nursery. Bright turquoise doors and trim set the tone for the colorful space.

Like a breath of fresh air this nursery soothes and calms our senses. Not bad for a space that requires lots of moments where sleep is the main goal.

The feature Wall was done with Stikwood. The unexpected Brass Light fixture is from West Elm. Succulents hang in the corner to add to the eclectic pop. A West Elm Dresser is used as the changing table.

The baby room was previously a guest room. A wall was removed to create a larger bathroom. In the nursery, we reworked the closets with built in shelving and cabinetry. One closet has drawers, shelves and cubbies to hang baby clothing. The other has custom cabinetry and shelves. Barn doors were chosen because they save space and allow for easy access to each closet. New hardwood flooring and windows with shutters were installed in the bedroom and recessed lighting. Wallpaper adds to the room’s charm.
