This formal living room is located in East Avenue mansion in a Preservation District. It has beautiful architectural details and I choose to leave the chandelier in place. I wanted to use elegant and contemporary furniture and showcase our local contemporary artists including furniture from Wendell Castle. The wing chair in the background was in the house and I choose to have a slip cover made for it and juxtapose it next to a very contemporary Wendell Castle side table that has an amazing crackle finish
Laure Nell Interiors
After searching for the perfect Paris apartment that could double as an atelier for five years, Laure Nell Interiors founder and principal Laetitia Laurent fell in love with this 415-square-foot pied-à-terre that packs a punch. Situated in the coveted Golden Triangle area in the 8th arrondissement—between avenue Montaigne, avenue des Champs-Elysées and avenue George V—the apartment was destined to be fashionable. The building’s Hausmannian architecture and a charming interior courtyard make way for modern interior architectural detailing that had been done during a previous renovation. Hardwood floors with deep black knotting, slatted wood paneling, and blue lacquer in the built-ins gave the apartment an interesting contemporary twist against the otherwise classic backdrop, including the original fireplace from the Hausmann era.
Laure Nell Interiors played up this dichotomy with playfully curated furnishings and lighting found during Paris Design Week: a mid-century Tulip table in the dining room, a coffee table from the NV Gallery x J’aime tout chez toi capsule collection, and a fireside chair from Popus Editions, a Paris-London furniture line with a restrained French take on British-inspired hues. In the bedroom, black and white details nod to Coco Chanel and ochre-colored bedding keeps the aesthetic current. A pendant from Oi Soi Oi lends the room a minimalist Asian element reminiscent of Laurent’s time in Kyoto.
Thanks to tall ceilings and the mezzanine loft space that had been added above the kitchen, the apartment exudes a feeling of grandeur despite its small footprint. Photos by Gilles Trillard
One Source Contracting
This Federal house was originally built in 1780 and the current owner reached out to the One Source Team with a desire to add more natural light and modern style, all while bringing back some long-lost historical character.

At one end of this Victorian sitting room was an unused space. Our clients have so many books it made sense to create a reading corner. We toyed with the idea of doing the standard fitted bookshelves, but this would not fit in with the contemporary relaxed look we were aiming for. This reading corner was made up of three metal bookshelves that were placed closely together. With the addition of the angled reading lights above the shelving it looks like a bespoke piece of metal work.

There’s no need to splurge on bottle service when you’ve got your own personal cocktail cart. The highlight of happy hour, this portable piece carries sips, snacks and sass with two glass shelves set in an antique brass-finished frame.
Seasons in Colour
Double aspect living room painted in Farrow & Ball Cornforth White, with a large grey rug layered with a cowhide (both from The Rug Seller). The large coffee table (100x100cm) is from La Redoute and it was chosen as it provides excellent storage. A glass table was not an option for this family who wanted to use the table as a footstool when watching movies!
The sofa is the Eden from the Sofa Workshop via DFS. The cushions are from H&M and the throw by Hermes, The brass side tables are via Houseology and they are by Dutchbone, a Danish interiors brand. The table lamps are by Safavieh. The roses canvas was drawn by the owner's grandma. A natural high fence that surrounds the back garden provides privacy and as a result the owners felt that curtains were not needed on this side of the room.
The floor is a 12mm laminate in smoked oak colour.
