Maya's inspiration was the water. The family spends summers by the ocean, and the husband sails. Christopher started with those simple Roman shades, which have a purplish-blue stripe. He thought that blue would be great for the walls, and it really was. The space was tight — there was no room for nightstands on both sides of the bed. So instead he gave the wife a small desk. She can shut the door and write. She really liked the simplicity of this room.

This side table was inspired by the most beautiful bird, the Peacock. An opulent and functional side table which has been lovingly stripped, up-cycled and re-styled. The main structure was lacquered by hand and features brass edging around the tabletop and the feet, adding a luxurious touch. A resin pour was applied to the tabletop in the colours of a peacock’s feathers. The metallic epoxy resin design is truly one-of-a-kind. The drawers were given new brass feather handles that add an opulent and maximalist feel to the piece. Dimensions: W 455 x D 455 x H 665mm

This bedroom is sprinkled with exotic flair in every piece of furniture and accessory chosen. The owners wanted an “east meets west” vibe in their master bedroom and they could not have been happier with the results! I chose a four poster bed with turned posts to give the room height and old world aesthetic as a starting point. From there, the other elements fell easily in to place. Deciding to use different sized console tables with different styles instead of traditional nightstands was important in giving the room a more modern feel. I splashed accents of spring green throughout the room to for a fresh and cozy feeling. The sitting area with the two striped chairs is so grand in height and style, while the antique console (in front of the bed) and art work provide an eclectic mix of pieces to finish out the room perfectly. What I love most about this design is that every corner of this room is interesting and beautiful on its own, but together they make for the most elegant, put together space that exudes a Zen feeling as soon as you walk in the door.

This was a project I did for a very nice family in Town and Country who have twin boys that were ready to transform their rooms into "big boy" rooms. This young man chose to go with a race car them. So we pulled the wallpaper down, patched the walls where needed, primed over the patches and any wallpaper glue that remained, and finally painted the walls from top to bottom. I always use Sherwin Williams paints.
