The before and after images show the transformation of our extension project in Maida Vale, West London. The family home was redesigned with a rear extension to create a new kitchen and dining area. Light floods in through the skylight and sliding glass doors by @maxlightltd by which open out onto the garden. The bespoke banquette seating with a soft grey fabric offers plenty of room for the family and provides useful storage.

Au cœur de la place Pellegrini, niché au dernier étage d'un immeuble des années 60, cet appartement traversant conjugue lumière et texture dans un décor aux teintes douces et intemporelles. Les différentes pièces de l'appartement sont desservies par un petit couloir. Une grande salle de douche a été habillée de pierre grise et pourvue d'une confortable douche à l'italienne. Le plan vasque en bois chaud s'harmonise avec la robinetterie noire, vecteur de modernité. Bien que contraignante, l'étroitesse de la chambre permet toutefois de placer le couchage face à la baie vitrée. L'orientation nord-ouest sur cour garantit aux occupants silence et intimité.

This house was owned by a very creative couple who had done all the initial works themselves. I was brought on towards the end of the project to tie up all the loose ends and add a few more finishing features. A wood block floor was sourced for the kitchen and a graphic tiled wall by Bert & May was designed to add colour and interest to the small kitchen. A fireplace opening was reinstated in the living room and the staircase restored and part painted keeping the original paint as a central runner. Full redecoration throughout the house, adding some pops of paint colours and fun wallpapers, finishing off with new curtains and sourcing the final key vintage furniture pieces. The top of the house had been used as a bit of a dumping ground, and this was given some tlc and transformed into a home office and adult living room. Attention to detail was key in the project managment of the final run to this fabulous home.

The Big Bang dining table is based on our classic Vega table, but with a surprising new twist. Big Bang is extendable to accommodate more guests, with center storage for two fold-out butterfly table leaves, tucked out of sight. Collapsed, Big Bang measures 50”x50” to accommodate daily life in our client’s small dining nook, but expands to either 72” or 94” when needed. Big Bang was originally commissioned in white oak, but is available in all of our solid wood materials. Several coats of hand-applied clear finish accentuate Big Bangs natural wood surface & add a layer of extra protection. The Big Bang is a physical theory that describes how the universe… and this table, expanded. Rénovation complète d'une maison en bordure du Parc de Sceaux. Dans la salle à manger, un placard de rangement a été incrusté afin de faire parti de la pièce. Avec ses niches en bois et ses façades couleur Mangue, le placard habille la pièce et la vivifie. Dans celui-ci il y a des tiroirs et des étagères sur une profondeur de 45cm.

A delightfully fresh and airy dining area with windows and french doors looking onto a large patio walled garden. Le projet Gaîté est une rénovation totale d’un appartement de 85m2. L’appartement avait baigné dans son jus plusieurs années, il était donc nécessaire de procéder à une remise au goût du jour. Nous avons conservé les emplacements tels quels. Seul un petit ajustement a été fait au niveau de l’entrée pour créer une buanderie. Le vert, couleur tendance 2020, domine l’esthétique de l’appartement. On le retrouve sur les façades de la cuisine signées Bocklip, sur les murs en peinture, ou par touche sur le papier peint et les éléments de décoration. Les espaces s’ouvrent à travers des portes coulissantes ou la verrière permettant à la lumière de circuler plus librement.

A round table leaves plenty of room for serving food at its centre, but a rectangular table is more flexible for seating extra guests at either end. What are the best dining chairs for my table?

If your table hasn’t been sold with matching chairs then you have some extra flexibility to select dining chairs that suit your desired dining room feel. For traditional dining rooms you will want to opt for a full set of high backed formal dining chairs, whether these are upholstered, leather or wood framed. If you are looking for a more informal dining room, then a selection of mismatched chairs in different materials such as moulded plastic and even metal can be a great way to achieve this. For a really relaxed dining experience, you could even opt for a full length bench, which has the additional advantage of saving space as it can be tucked away under the table when not in use.

How should I decorate my dining room?

Elegant, neutral palettes are the safest dining room decorating ideas for smaller rooms, creating a calm dining environment for your guests.
