This penthouse apartment has glorious 270-degree views, and when we engaged to complete the extensive renovation, we knew that this apartment would be a visual masterpiece once finished. So we took inspiration from the colours featuring in many of their art pieces, which we bought into the kitchen colour, soft furnishings and wallpaper. We kept the bathrooms a more muted palette using a pale green on the cabinetry. The MC Lozza dining table, custom-designed wall units and make-up area added uniqueness to this space.

The dining room received a glam makeover with the goal to combine the traditional bones of the home with a more modern style of the clients, while also re-purposing several pieces. The custom table top is made from reclaimed wood flooring, laid in a herringbone pattern. The vintage metal chairs were reupholstered in 2 fabrics. The vintage chest was a family piece, and much more traditional than they client's style. However, we mixed the chest with their more modern pieces and picked up the gold accents from the chest on the ceiling and wall. A grey and gold wall paper is framed with gold borders to create a focal wall. A modern take on a traditional crystal chandelier finishes off the room for the perfect blend of styles. What are the best dining chairs for my table?

If your table hasn’t been sold with matching chairs then you have some extra flexibility to select dining chairs that suit your desired dining room feel. For traditional dining rooms you will want to opt for a full set of high backed formal dining chairs, whether these are upholstered, leather or wood framed. If you are looking for a more informal dining room, then a selection of mismatched chairs in different materials such as moulded plastic and even metal can be a great way to achieve this. For a really relaxed dining experience, you could even opt for a full length bench, which has the additional advantage of saving space as it can be tucked away under the table when not in use.

How should I decorate my dining room?
