With adjacent neighbors within a fairly dense section of Paradise Valley, Arizona, C.P. Drewett sought to provide a tranquil retreat for a new-to-the-Valley surgeon and his family who were seeking the modernism they loved though had never lived in. With a goal of consuming all possible site lines and views while maintaining autonomy, a portion of the house — including the entry, office, and master bedroom wing — is subterranean. This subterranean nature of the home provides interior grandeur for guests but offers a welcoming and humble approach, fully satisfying the clients requests. While the lot has an east-west orientation, the home was designed to capture mainly north and south light which is more desirable and soothing. The architecture’s interior loftiness is created with overlapping, undulating planes of plaster, glass, and steel. The woven nature of horizontal planes throughout the living spaces provides an uplifting sense, inviting a symphony of light to enter the space. The more voluminous public spaces are comprised of stone-clad massing elements which convert into a desert pavilion embracing the outdoor spaces. Every room opens to exterior spaces providing a dramatic embrace of home to natural environment. Grand Award winner for Best Interior Design of a Custom Home The material palette began with a rich, tonal, large-format Quartzite stone cladding. The stone’s tones gaveforth the rest of the material palette including a champagne-colored metal fascia, a tonal stucco system, and ceilings clad with hemlock, a tight-grained but softer wood that was tonally perfect with the rest of the materials. The interior case goods and wood-wrapped openings further contribute to the tonal harmony of architecture and materials. Grand Award Winner for Best Indoor Outdoor Lifestyle for a Home This award-winning project was recognized at the 2020 Gold Nugget Awards with two Grand Awards, one for Best Indoor/Outdoor Lifestyle for a Home, and another for Best Interior Design of a One of a Kind or Custom Home. At the 2020 Design Excellence Awards and Gala presented by ASID AZ North, Ownby Design received five awards for Tonal Harmony. The project was recognized for 1st place – Bathroom; 3rd place – Furniture; 1st place – Kitchen; 1st place – Outdoor Living; and 2nd place – Residence over 6,000 square ft. Congratulations to Claire Ownby, Kalysha Manzo, and the entire Ownby Design team. Tonal Harmony was also featured on the cover of the July/August 2020 issue of Luxe Interiors + Design and received a 14-page editorial feature entitled “A Place in the Sun” within the magazine.

Je mets toujours un point d’honneur à m’inscrire dans l’histoire du lieu en travaillant avec des matériaux authentiques, quelles que soient la nature et la taille du projet. » Aujourd’hui, l’ancien petit salon et sa cuisine attenante ont été réunis en une seule pièce, privilégiant ainsi la convivialité et l’esthétisme. Florence a conceptualisé la cuisine avec deux plans de travail dont un îlot XXL qui dissimule de grands tiroirs de rangement, ainsi qu’une table de cuisson. Attenant à la cuisine, un escalier..Voici une pièce à vivre en deux parties. La cuisine (Record è Cucine), réalisée en Fenix (panneau en stratifié) et bois brut, se distingue de la salle à manger par un jeu de couleurs en clair-obscur, inspiré par la végétation environnante. La décoration éclectique associe d’anciennes lampes à pétrole provenant d’un paquebot indien à des créations actuelles. Plan de travail en granit du Zimbabwe et en acier brossé sur l’îlot central. Peinture « Inchyra Blue » (vert foncé) et « Cinder Rose » (rose clair), Farrow & Ball. Robinetterie, Hansgrohe. Serviettes de table, Society Limonta. Rideau, Élitis. Torchons, Harmony. Le projet Redonner du lustre et du style à un appartement ancien ayant perdu de son cachet au cours des dernières décennies. Notre solution Ouvrir les espaces et repenser la circulation des pièces. Le séjour communique directement avec une chambre dissimulée derrière une porte camouflée par un grand papier peint panoramique en noir et blanc. Les anciens plafonds avec moulures ont été découverts lors des travaux et restaurés dans l’entrée et la chambre. Une véritable suite parentale inspirée de l’hôtellerie de luxe est créée avec une salle de douche ouverte sur la chambre. De nombreux rangements sur mesure sont créés : bibliothèque, placards, dressings… Le style Mariage réussi du classique et du contemporain. Un parquet clair à chevrons remplace les anciens revêtements. Des caches-radiateurs menuisés longent toute la pièce à vivre jusque dans la chambre d’amis. L’entrée est peinte dans un bleu profond y compris sur le plafond, tout comme la bibliothèque et les fenêtres. Dans la chambre, rideaux et tête de lit en velours sont dans la même teinte. La salle de douche ouverte joue avec les marbres avec un meuble vasque sur fond de marbre gris au sol et aux murs. Un grand dressing avec plaquage matiéré finalise cet espace parentale haute couture. Des luminaires design ponctuent les différents espaces tout comme des interrupteurs et prises design en acier brossé présents jusque dans le parquet.

Contemporary Open Plan Games Room Ideas and Designs

If you’re lucky enough to have more than one reception room then you have a bit more freedom when deciding what to do with your secondary space. Families with children or just young-at-heart adults could opt for a family room or contemporary games room; whether it’s a pool or snooker table room, a comfy relaxation or TV area, a video games haven, a playroom packed with toys or a sports room with accompanying bar. Usually contemporary games rooms are naturally fun, recreational spaces so it’s important that the furnishings are functional but enjoyable with an emphasis on comfort, storage, games and entertainment. If you have the scope, family room extensions are a great way of extending from your kitchen or other area of your house to create a whole new, dedicated family space or contemporary games room. Basements are also wonderfully suited to house games rooms as they are usually soundproof and secluded so that loud games, films and cheers of success or failure won’t be heard next door or upstairs. Add coffee tables and side tables for holding glasses and plates (if they’re allowed), books, magazines and all the other knick-knacks that accumulate in a family room. A cosy rug will be a great addition but make sure it doesn’t easily slip under fast moving feet! Snooker, billiards and pool tables will keep competitive spirits busy but if you don’t have the room, table football could be a more suitable option. Photographs, artwork, colour schemes and textures that reflect the essence of your household will add charm and promote a sense of comfort and relaxation for your family. Fill the room with features your family love – films, board games, books, music and perhaps sports memorabilia. Keep decor functional and practical – pristine white upholstery and rugs are probably not the ticket for the hustle and bustle of a games or family room. If you love light or neutral tones family room ideas that could work include light leather sofas, which will be easy to clean in the case of any spills, and soft coloured cushions and throws that can be thrown in the washing machine whenever necessary. Without a large kitchen or second reception room then it will be up to your living room to provide you with your games room or family space, and this is where storage will be your new best friend.
