Working within the footprint of the existing house and a new, 3 by 11 foot addition, the scope of this project called for enhanced use of the existing kitchen space and better views to the heavily landscaped and terraced rear yard. In response, numerous operable windows and doors wrap around three sides of the design, allowing the exterior landscaping and renovated deck to be more a part of the interior. A 9'-6" ceiling height helps define the kitchen area and provides enhanced views to an existing gazebo via the addition's high windows. With views to the exterior as a goal, most storage cabinets have been relocated to an interior wall. Glass doors and cabinet-mounted display lights accent the floor-to-ceiling pantry unit. A Rain Forest Green granite countertop is complemented by cork floor tiles, soothing glass mosaics and a rich paint palette. The adjacent dining area's charcoal grey slate pavers provide superior functionality and have been outfitted with a radiant heat floor system.

This kitchen and bathroom remodel was about introducing a modern look and sustainable comfortable materials to accommodate a busy and growing family of four. The choice of cork flooring was for durability and the warm tones that we could easily match in the cabinetry and brass hardware.

Although small, the kitchen has room to seat four people, as well as a large pantry. Open cubbies throughout the space make for great display areas. Photo: Jared Kuzia Photo by: Jared Kuzia

A Brush with Brass - The cool metal tones (stainless steel, nickel, chrome, etc.) that have outsold all other finishes on everything from decorative hardware to faucets to furniture have become so popular they have begun to look commonplace. Warmer brass finishes (along with copper and bronze) have been moving in from the margins and are beginning to make a splash in high-end commercial projects and contemporary design. Brass offers a compelling and intriguingly fresh look, especially with a brushed finish that is different enough from the polished brass of the 70s to look brand new! It always takes a few years before new trends fully develop and become part of mainstream interior design, but brushed brass looks are certainly gaining popularity. This Dura Supreme kitchen remodel, with it's sleek contemporary design style, utilizes brushed brass accents in lighting, decorative hardware and plumbing. This light-filled space was once a dark and tiny kitchen. We designed the addition to incorporate a sunroom that leads to the gardens. The ceiling beams were stained to coordinate with the cabinet finish.

HAVA studios worked with Christine Julian Interiors, LLC for a Hobbs Taylor Loft residence to produce a cherry and granite kitchen/dining table that is attached to the kitchen island in a beautiful loft space. At the other end of this stunning great room we fabricated a cherry build-in for a wine cooler and ice machine that is topped with granite. Photos by Darin M. White

Huge re-model including taking ceiling from a flat ceiling to a complete transformation. Bamboo custom cabinetry was given a grey stain, mixed with walnut strip on the bar and the island given a different stain. Huge amounts of storage from deep pan corner drawers, roll out trash, coffee station, built in refrigerator, wine and alcohol storage, appliance garage, pantry and appliance storage, the amounts go on and on. Floating shelves with a back that just grabs the eye takes this kitchen to another level. The clients are thrilled with this huge difference from their original space.
