Dig Your Garden Landscape DesignAPLD 2021 Silver Award Winning Landscape Design. Galvanized troughs used for vegetables in the side yard. An expansive back yard landscape with several mature oak trees and a stunning Golden Locust tree has been transformed into a welcoming outdoor retreat. The renovations include a wraparound deck, an expansive travertine natural stone patio, stairways and pathways along with concrete retaining walls and column accents with dramatic planters. The pathways meander throughout the landscape... some with travertine stepping stones and gravel and those below the majestic oaks left natural with fallen leaves. Raised vegetable beds and fruit trees occupy some of the sunniest areas of the landscape. A variety of low-water and low-maintenance plants for both sunny and shady areas include several succulents, grasses, CA natives and other site-appropriate Mediterranean plants complimented by a variety of boulders. The London Gardener LtdSmall garden in Brixton designed for young children and sophisticated enough to link in style with the new kitchen extension/remodelled house.
Artificial grass was combined with scented Lavender and Trachleospermum with year round structure from standard Olea (Olive) trees and Magnolia Grandiflora.
Cedar slats were used for the fencing to give a clean and modern line.

Harry Holding StudioPlanting in the back garden for an innovative property in Fulham Cemetery - the house featured on Channel 4's Grand Designs in January 2021. The design had to enhance the relationship with the bold, contemporary architecture and open up a dialogue with the wild green space beyond its boundaries. Seen here in summer, the planting is a base of evergreen textures punctuated with long flowering perennials.
Urban Oasis Design & Construction LLCThese Queen Anne homeowners had completely remodeled their home and were looking for a low maintenance, enjoyable yard that would accentuate their views and provide outdoor space for their dogs. Another important goal was to attract birds and pollinators to the garden, in part for photographic opportunities. A series of Corten planters create planting space along the back property line while leaving plenty of room for artificial turf that the family dogs can enjoy. A recirculating urn water feature creates a pleasant sound, a focal point and most importantly, attracts birds to the garden. Privacy screens designed using OutDeco panels create interest on both sides and focus views to the mountains in the background. Front and backyards were completely redesigned for ease of maintenance.

Tracey Parker Landscape Design LtdThis family garden was redesigned to gives a sense of space for both adults and children at the same time the clients were extending their home. The view of the garden was enhanced by an oversized picture window from the kitchen onto the garden.
This informed the design of the iroko pergola which has a BBQ area to catch the evening sun. The wood was stained to match the picture window allowing continuity between the house and garden. Existing roses were relocated to climb the uprights and a Viburnum x bodnantense ‘Charles Lamont’ was planted immediately outside the window to give floral impact during the winter months which it did beautifully in its first year.
The Kiwi clients desired a lot of evergreen structure which helped to define areas. Designboard ‘Greenwich’ was specified to lighten the shaded terrace and provide a long-lasting, low-maintenance surface. The front garden was also reorganised to give it some clarity of design with a Kiwi sense of welcome.

Think Outside GardensWith a brief to optimise the outdoor spaces for practical entertaining large sliding doors were fitted to the kitchen and dining areas allowing the once neglected garden to feel connected to the home once again. Works included a pool renovation with new glass fencing, bench seating and generous entertaining areas adjacent to the kitchen. A new large format contemporary tile was applied to all surfaces from the kitchen, and living areas within the home through to the alfresco dining, steps and pool areas emphasising the connection between indoors and out.
Hardwood timber bench seating was used to reference the new timber doors and existing kitchen. A mixture of traditional and contemporary planting combine to provide the necessary structure to the outdoor spaces whilst maintaining a relaxed atmosphere. A large existing deciduous tree provides screening and shade in summer while allowing light to penetrate the garden in winter months.
