The new custom vanity is a major upgrade from the existing conditions. It’s larger in size and still creates a grounding focal point, but in a much more contemporary way. We opted for black stained wood, flat cabinetry with integrated pulls for the most minimal look. Then we selected a honed limestone countertop that we carried down both sides of the vanity in a waterfall effect. To maintain the most sleek and minimal look, we opted for an integrated sink and a custom cut out for trash.

Dramatic, classic and modern; Obelisk Home’s challenge from the homeowner. We now had to convince the client that a dramatic black alligator wallpaper mixed with a black metallic tile, a sleek black countertop and a colorful listello strip would be the perfect mix in this small space. It is simple, yet shiny light fixtures and a mirror, create reflectivity, warmth and interest. The cabinets were finished in a warm grey with lots of under-cabinet space for storage. This powder room underwent an amazing transformation. From mixed matched colors to a beautiful black and gold space, this bathroom is to die for. Inside is brand new floor tiles and wall paint along with an all new shower and floating vanity. The walls are covered in a snake skin like wall paper with black wainscoting to accent. A half way was added to conceal the toilet and create more privacy. Gold fixtures and a lovely gold chandelier light up the space perfectly.

The cloakroom is a room where us Brits love to go to town on the decor. A place to showcase the wilder side of your personality! As well as displaying all those certificates and awards, your downstairs toilet can offer your guests a glimpse into what makes you tick, so unleash your creative side and have fun when planning the design of cloakrooms. Whilst these small spaces are often retro-fitted underneath the stairs or bolted on an extension (having replaced the outdoors toilet of yesteryear), the convenience of having a cloakroom can’t be underestimated. And because they are so often tight on space, specially designed cloakroom suites that work in the limited space are advisable – compact cloakroom vanity units or small cloakroom basins, back-to-wall toilets and bathroom wall cabinets. How to find the right ideas for a cloakroom?

How do you start planning your cloakroom when you’re starting from scratch? Serving a practical purpose first and foremost, the ideal downstairs toilet is fitted with a few basic items: the cloakroom suite (a toilet and a hand basin), a storage unit and a mirror. These four are essentials and should be small enough to avoid crowding the small space. Specially-designed short-projection units are made to maximise space. How should cloakrooms be decorated?
