Molly's Marketplace, a home renovation's paradise
We completely updated this home from the outside to the inside. Every room was touched because the owner wanted to make it very sell-able. Our job was to lighten, brighten and do as many updates as we could on a shoe string budget. We started with the outside and we cleared the lakefront so that the lakefront view was open to the house. We also trimmed the large trees in the front and really opened the house up, before we painted the home and freshen up the landscaping. Inside we painted the house in a white duck color and updated the existing wood trim to a modern white color. We also installed shiplap on the TV wall and white washed the existing Fireplace brick. We installed lighting over the kitchen soffit as well as updated the can lighting. We then updated all 3 bathrooms. We finished it off with custom barn doors in the newly created office as well as the master bedroom. We completed the look with custom furniture!

Perfect to install it in dining room, entry, hallway or foyer, the six light chandelier will cast a warm glow and create a relaxing ambiance in the space.

I color coordinate every room I design. She has a yellow fireplace and the blue surf board and end table. So I turned everything into blue and yellow, with tans and woods to break up the two main colors. No money was involved in designing this space, or any space in this Huntington Beach cottage. It's all about furniture re-arrangement.

We painted all the knotty pine with Behr paint to brighten up the space. We added round windows on either side of the fireplace and replaced the large picture window with casings that could open so we could catch a breeze. Sofa, lamp and curtains from Ikea, mirror and lamp from home decor store, a few pillows from Etsy and craft fairs. The rest of the furnishings and accents are from antique fairs and antique stores in Cannon Beach, Portland and Europe.

New paint and flooring created a cleaner space to work with. A larger perspective of space was created with a neutral palette, tall sliding door curtain treatments, and reflective accessories. The cozy and simple furniture gave the space a great traffic flow. The accessories were kept simple and played with beach-like forms and colors.

The fireplace was off centre and not an attractive colour. A fresh coat of white paint, new mantel and built in have given this room balance and well needed storage. The mantel echos the same wood treatment used for the coffee bar in the kitchen.
