The house bridges over a swale in the land twice in the form of a C. The centre of the C is the main living area, while, together with the bridges, features floor to ceiling glazing set into a Douglas fir glulam post and beam structure. The Southern wing leads off the C to enclose the guest wing with garages below. It was important to us that the home sit quietly in its setting and was meant to have a strong connection to the land.
SALA Architects
This 1963 architect designed home needed some careful design work to make it livable for a more modern couple, without forgoing its Mid-Century aesthetic. Designed by David Wagner, AIA with Marta Snow, AIA.

We used a unique palate of materials to compose this one of a kind personal resort for our clients. They wanted a contemporary home that utilized regional materials and expressed the Southwest, but in a fresh new way. There is a surprise around every corner in this home as it meanders across the entire site. We collaborated with Joyce Crawford, and Charles Glover for interiors, and Wendy LeSeuer for Landscape design.

This modern entry has an exotic, organic feel thanks to custom water features, a lush and verdant green wall, and a custom front door featuring an antique hand-carved Chinese screen.

Corralitos, Watsonville, CA
Louie Leu Architect, Inc. collaborated in the role of Executive Architect on a custom home in Corralitas, CA, designed by Italian Architect, Aldo Andreoli.
Located just south of Santa Cruz, California, the site offers a great view of the Monterey Bay. Inspired by the traditional 'Casali' of Tuscany, the house is designed to incorporate separate elements connected to each other, in order to create the feeling of a village. The house incorporates sustainable and energy efficient criteria, such as 'passive-solar' orientation and high thermal and acoustic insulation. The interior will include natural finishes like clay plaster, natural stone and organic paint. The design includes solar panels, radiant heating and an overall healthy green approach.

The dormer was framed with a projecting render surround, painted black to compliment the glazing whilst care was taken to line the vertical elements of the bi-folding doors at ground floor through with the glazing to the first floor bedroom.
The "blank" panel to the left hand side of the dormer is clad with cedar boarding to tie in with the cladding used on the ground floor aspect adjacent.
Flavin Architects
Flavin Architects collaborated with Ben Wood Studio Shanghai on the design of this modern house overlooking a blueberry farm. A contemporary design that looks at home in a traditional New England landscape, this house features many environmentally sustainable features including passive solar heat and native landscaping. The house is clad in stucco and natural wood in clear and stained finishes and also features a double height dining room with a double-sided fireplace.
