The Mason Grabell house is tucked into a Beech Forest near Chapel Hill, NC. The heart of the house is the walnut cabinetry kitchen with its butler pantry and connection to dining, indoor and out. The Screen porch is the heart of the extra, floating out into the site. Keith Isaacs is the photographer for this pic.

This is another view of the front of the house, taken at a different angle. In this photo, you can clearly see the front steps as well as the banister and trellis. All of which we painted in the same white. This adds uniformity to the entire exterior paint scheme and helps to add a nice contrast to the two blue shades. There’s also a lot of shrubbery and plants around the front of the house. We always ensure that no paint drips onto the greenery.

This is another side view of the house. In this close up photo, you can see how the white used for the window frames, guttering, and downspout helps to break up the blue of the siding. The surrounding trees and bushes help to enhance the exterior color scheme’s sense of tranquility. This is a good example of how you can choose a simple color palette yet still achieve a stunning and dramatic look.

You’ll notice something slightly different in this photo. The owners decided to paint the stair railings in the same shade of blue as the walls, rather than the white of the trims. Since the decking area is also white, this helps to break away from having too much white in one area. This keeps the area from looking washed out and hasn’t detracted from the house at all.

This is the private deck off the master bedroom. This western deck faces a magnificent view. We designed sliding wood screens that can be easily closed to block the intense summer heat when needed.
