This 1950's built home was a time capsule in the most stunning way! Every element of the original modern home was perfectly preserved, including the kitchen. Unfortunately, the closed off kitchen wasn't fitting in the lifestyle of the busy young family. We needed to open the space, update the layout and finishes, all while ensuring we didn't lose the charm of the home.

A light-filled extension on a country cottage transformed a small kitchen into a bigger family functional and sociable space. Our clients love their beautiful country cottage located in the countryside on the edge of Canterbury but needed more space. They built an extension and Burlanes were commissioned to created a country style kitchen that maintained the integrity of the property with some elegant modern additions.

The pantry doors were designed to mimic the custom paneled refrigerator & freezer doors. They were finished in the same deep blue finish found on the island. Now they feel like an extension of the kitchen rather than two misplaced closets.
