Fountainhead Group Consulting Ltd.Outdoor kitchen with side by side bbq, Komodo Joe 24" smoker, bar sink w/ removable cutting board, built-in fridge to right of smoker, built-in waste basket and paper towel holder in cabinet to right of bbq, and to the left of the bbq a condiments / ice bucket combination built-in countertop appliance. Countertop is polished concrete, cabinets are modular stainless steel with integral handles. The canopy is manufactured from steel HSS tubes, powder-coated in fine textured black, the canopy ceiling is linear strip cedar, the roof is standing seam metal. There is a built-in custom eavestrough at the base of the roof that leads to the downspout chain seen behind the bbq. A custom gate (seen to the left of the kitchen area), together with metal screened panels form part of the overall canopy structure. The canopy relies on tension rods at the back of the structural posts to support the approximate 6' of roof cantilever that extends well past the front of the countertop. Linear LED lights are built-in to the three lower horizontal tubes that project off of the main columns over the countertop.
LandCrafters, LLCA masonry grill station of Eden veneer with a cut bluestone coping surrounds a ProFire gas grill, side burners, trash and recycling pull out and outdoor faucet and sink. A Kamado Joe Classic Joe was also integrated within the grill station. A bar overlooks the roofed fire pit/entertainment area allowing guests full view of the outdoor television. A bluestone patio echoes the coping of the bar and grill station.
Barbara Wilson Landscape Architect, LLCThis cute backyard patio was renovated to provide an outdoor seating area with a firepit by Benintoshape, bar seating for entertaining and a cozy dining area adjacent to the kitchen. Barbara designed perennials and bulbs to be added to the existing shade garden spaces and new plantings were incorporated to provide more seasonal color and interest in the rose garden. New shade tolerant shrubs and groundcovers were added under a large Norway Maple tree that cast considerable shade in the backyard. A new stepping stone path provided access to the nearby sunny lawn and playscape in the side yard. The back and side yards were enclosed with a picket fence to keep the pets and children safe. Comfortable lounge furniture by Janus et Cie and pillows by Elaine Smith were placed in the renovated patio space. The dining area was covered with a Tuuci cantilever umbrella for additional shade in the afternoon.
Red River Lights, LLCAgain on these 2 playfull Otters we used a blending of colors to create a more natural yet surreal scene with the Otters sliding into there hidden pool at night. With the Help of Blain Evans of LA Custom Lawncare, we were able to get lights hidden in little alcoves and a small pool on top. This helps complete the scene. Its not just a water feature that has lights on it. The lighting becomes part of the art. Drawing you in to the scene full of imagination.

Ecoscape Environmental DesignThe backyard of this brick home on University Hill in Boulder was in need of renovation to bring together awkward angles, window wells, and uneven surfaces. This tight space was not inviting and rarely used. The homeowners were inspired by turtle shells and desired bamboo plants for their Asian aesthetic. Clean lines and light creams have replaced the mix-mosh of haphazard stones and unset redstone pavers. Now the space feels intentionally designed and welcoming.
Furnitureland South“Greensboro’s Grandest House” was recently selected as the 2013 ShowHouse presented by the Junior League of Greensboro and national media sponsor Traditional Home. Among the local and national design talent featured in this special fundraising event was design duo Patti Allen and Stephanie James of Furnitureland South, who transformed the estate’s patio into a classic, colorful and cozy space.
Built in the early 1920s, the Adamsleigh estate is more than 15,000 square feet and covers 13.5 acres that include pools, a lake, tennis courts, a stone gazebo and a five-car garage. The 30×60 patio presented a special design challenge – the space was in disrepair and sat unevenly on a downward slope. Rising to the challenge, Patti and Stephanie partnered with Outer Space Landscapes to change the elevation of the patio in order to draw attention to the focal point and inspiration of the project: a beautiful canopy sofa by Century Furniture.
The addition of 6 tons of landscaping material included Pennsylvania blue stone, pebbles, sand, cherry trees, azaleas and geraniums all blooming in the colors of the latest Sunbrella fabrics featured in the outdoor furnishings: crisp, sandy white, fuchsia and tangerine. Patti and Stephanie wanted to showcase clean and classic outdoor style with an edge of color and unexpected elements. Playful ottomans by Baker float in the space for multiple functions, adding an extra pop of color to the sophisticated setting which includes a dining table by Oscar de la Renta, organic spot tables from Phillips Collection, and daybeds and seating from Century Furniture.
Combining their passion for interior spaces with signature designs, Allen and James Designs gave this outdoor space the comfort, color and style it deserved.
