Historically regarded as ‘The Purple House,’ a place where musicians have come and gone, we restored this 1910 historical building in East Nashville to become a boutique bed and breakfast. Developed by native Texans, the home is dubbed The Texas Consulate, with a soft spot for Texans. Much of the original structure and details remain, including the wood flooring, trim and casing, architectural niches, fireplaces and tile, brick chimneys, doors and hardware, cast iron tubs, and other special trinkets. We suggested minimal architectural interventions to accommodate the adaptation, in addition to curating hand-selected furniture, fixtures, and objects that celebrate the building’s art deco character. Transitional Bathroom with marble look floor tile and white subway tile on all walls made this space bright. The bump out on the sink cabinet allowed for additional storage and fluted decorative detail.

Low maintenance and accessibility are the two most important features of this bathroom design. It is the master bathroom in the owner's brand new retirement home. A pocket door ensures that no valuable floor space is given up, a curbless shower and grab bars ensure accessibility, a concealed-trap toilet and slab cabinet drawer and door fronts are all super easy to clean.

The main restaurant space in a Guangzhou lifestyle and entertainment complex. Named after the role of the head of customs during the Qing dynasty in the 19th century – a time when Canton was an essential port of trade between China and the rest of the world – the design of the restaurant reflects the menagerie of cultural influences that came about during that period, resulting in an aesthetic that is both varied and unique to a distinct time and place in history. Chinoiserie figures prominently throughout the design, bolstered by Scandinavian and industrial influences. In the main dining hall, an intricate timberwork ceiling recalls train cabins of old, while plush banquettes, brass trimmings, rattan screens and custom-designed rococo light fixtures intermingle to create a rich, tactile tapestry that evokes a world of refinement. The VIP rooms further build on a sense of intimacy with a predominantly dark palette, crystal palm tree chandeliers, decadent Coltex upholstery and custom rattan furniture.

When the client first came to us, they were looking to update their bathroom and to make the space to feel bigger and brighter. We were able to achieve this by installing Emser Tile’s Metro Cream Honed Hexagon tile flooring and an American Standard soaking tub. We also upgraded their cabinetry to a Foremost prefabricated cabinet with soft-close doors and drawers. Some other features of this bathroom include Kohler drop-in sink, a floor to ceiling tiled shower with a clear frameless glass, and Capital lighting.
