We removed all the carpet and replaced it with a basket weave porcelain tile in black and white. This tile stretches into the closet and has a secret: it's heated! No more cold feet!

You could choose pale colours and iridescent tiles that reflect the light, keep walls and ceilings the same colour and texture, and use complementary shades throughout the bathroom– fewer contrasts and transitions will help maintain the sense of space.
