Time for new bathrooms in Newtown Square PA. Age and poor tile installation caused the demise of these client’s master and hall baths. We redesigned the layout of the master bath getting rid of a small stall shower and huge tiled tub deck. The new master bath now has a larger shower with frameless glass surround and a sleeker free standing tub. Both baths received newly designed tile showers with quartzite accents matching the baths new countertops. The master bath cabinetry by Fabuwood in Nexus frost is a clean contrast to the grey tile on the floors of the master and the hall bath cabinetry by Fieldstone in Crystal fog finish accents the aqua/blue/green tile listello in the hall bath. Now these clients have new beautiful baths.

For this ski-in, ski-out mountainside property, the intent was to create an architectural masterpiece that was simple, sophisticated, timeless and unique all at the same time. The clients wanted to express their love for Japanese-American craftsmanship, so we incorporated some hints of that motif into the designs. The highlight of the master bathroom is the mosaic wall tile, a polished onyx and marble design of peaceful floating lily pads, symbolic of nature’s restorative properties. Unique copper fixtures warm up the space while chromatically integrating with the home’s walnut woods, with the walnut cabinetry and open shelving, and nicely complement the dual-finish mocha tub and the black quartzite shower slab. The slab is book matched, creating a stunning effect. Flooring and sinks in matching limestone, curved vanity mirrors and onyx with bronze sconces complete the contemporary design. Functional additions include towel warmers, fog-free shaving shower mirror, steam shower and heated floors.

His and her vanities are separated by the free-standing tub giving each person their own comfortable space to get ready for the day. The mosaic tile backsplash traverses across the entire bathroom serving as a beautiful accent below each mirror and behind the free-standing bathtub. Porcelain floors and Fantasy Brown honed countertops add ease of maintenance to this well-used space. Crystal accents on the vanity lights and chandelier, glass knobs, and beautiful simple florals add an elegant touch. Photographer: Daniel Angulo
