Background/description: The house was built in 1908, my clients are only the 3rd owners of the house. The prior owner lived there from 1940s until she died at age of 98! The old home had loads of character and charm but was in pretty bad condition and desperately needed updates. The clients purchased the home a few years ago and did some work before they moved in (roof, HVAC, electrical) but decided to live in the house for a 6 months or so before embarking on the next renovation phase. I had worked with the clients previously on the wife's office space and a few projects in a previous home including the nursery design for their first child so they reached out when they were ready to start thinking about the interior renovations. The goal was to respect and enhance the historic architecture of the home but make the spaces more functional for this couple with two small kids. Clients were open to color and some more bold/unexpected design choices. The design style is updated traditional with some eclectic elements. An early design decision was to incorporate a dark colored french range which would be the focal point of the kitchen and to do dark high gloss lacquered cabinets in the adjacent coffee bar, and we ultimately went with dark green.

123 Remodeling Inc.We undertook a comprehensive bathroom remodel to improve the functionality and aesthetics of the space. To create a more open and spacious layout, we expanded the room by 2 feet, shifted the door, and reconfigured the entire layout. Haven Design and ConstructionThis sophisticated black and white bath belongs to the clients' teenage son. He requested a masculine design with a warming towel rack and radiant heated flooring. A few gold accents provide contrast against the black cabinets and pair nicely with the matte black plumbing fixtures. A tall linen cabinet provides a handy storage area for towels and toiletries. The focal point of the room is the bold shower tile accent wall that provides a welcoming surprise when entering the bath from the basement hallway.
Michael Nash Design, Build & HomesThe homeowners of this large single-family home in Fairfax Station suburb of Virginia, desired a remodel of their master bathroom. The homeowners selected an open concept for the master bathroom.
We relocated and enlarged the shower. The prior built-in tub was removed and replaced with a slip-free standing tub. The commode was moved the other side of the bathroom in its own space. The bathroom was enlarged by taking a few feet of space from an adjacent closet and bedroom to make room for two separate vanity spaces. The doorway was widened which required relocating ductwork and plumbing to accommodate the spacing. A new barn door is now the bathroom entrance. Each of the vanities are equipped with decorative mirrors and sconce lights. We removed a window for placement of the new shower which required new siding and framing to create a seamless exterior appearance. Elegant plank porcelain floors with embedded hexagonal marble inlay for shower floor and surrounding tub make this memorable transformation. The shower is equipped with multi-function shower fixtures, a hand shower and beautiful custom glass inlay on feature wall. A custom French-styled door shower enclosure completes this elegant shower area. The heated floors and heated towel warmers are among other new amenities.
LSDesignThis ensuite girl’s bathroom doubles as a family room guest bath. Our focus was to create an environment that was somewhat feminine but yet very neutral. The unlacquered brass finishes combined with lava rock flooring and neutral color palette creates a durable yet elegant atmosphere to this compromise.
Henrietta Heisler Interiors IncEach of the two custom vanities provide plenty of space for personal items as well as storage. Brushed gold mirrors, sconces, sink fittings, and hardware shine bright against the neutral grey wall and dark brown vanities.
