The guest bath had been a do-it-yourself project of a former homeowner and the materials and workmanship did not match the quality of the home. The old shower bench made it almost impossible to get in and out of the shower because it forced the door so close to the toilet. The bathroom was gutted and has all new fixtures and finishes. More Hawaiian art reminds the wife of where she grew up.

Our clients new master bathroom features a furniture style vanity with storage for baskets or towels on the bottom. We also designed a soffit detail to allow for intimate puck lighting, sconces and upper vanity storage. In addition, we tiled the back wall of the vanity to create another design element and this tile is also repeated within the shower. The bathroom also features a linen cabinet and counter top to house their Keurig coffee maker and iPod dock, a separate toilet room and a large shower with a bench.

A custom made vanity utilizing the space usually wasted at the toe kick by creating a drawer - extra storage is always helpful! And it doubles as a step stool for your little ones. This toe-kick drawer, in fact, is in our own home, and our 3-year old twins use it as a step stool to brush their teeth and wash their hands. It's a multi-purpose design solution that's worked well for our own family.

A striking feature in this master bathroom is the stone, basket-weave tile on the floor.

Talk about MAN CAVE! We finished this basement in Olathe and were finally able to go by there and grab some completion pictures. If there is a big game on, and you can't reach us? We are likely in this basement. A few details? 145" diagonal HD projection TV with custom 7:1 surround sound, full wet-bar (with another TV), full bathroom and a play room.

This hall 1/2 Bathroom was very outdated and needed an update. We started by tearing out a wall that separated the sink area from the toilet and shower area. We found by doing this would give the bathroom more breathing space. We installed patterned cement tile on the main floor and on the shower floor is a black hex mosaic tile, with white subway tiles wrapping the walls.

Combining two smaller bedrooms, we carved out space for a new master suite in this whole-house renovation. The master bath has a long double vanity, a roomy shower, and plenty of storage. Tiles are glass mosaic, ceramic, and travertine; the counter is Caesarstone. Folding shower bench is by Moen. Photo: Jeffrey Totaro
