A touch of industrial with a nod to modern farmhouse and a little bit of urban whimsy come together in this welcoming condo renovation in the Cardozo neighborhood of Washington, DC. Highlights include new wide plank hickory floors, encaustic cement tile floors, a glazed brick backsplash, and reclaimed barnwood floating shelves.
Tracy Berman Interiors
This 1968 single story bungalow had great bones but serious design and storage issues. The kitchen had a drop ceiling and a door that lead into the guest bedroom. The peninsula and cabinet overhang made the kitchen feel small and crowded. A few too many DIY projects made for a mess of style! The bathrooms had never been updated, the closets were in the wrong spots and all the lighting fixtures were dated. A face lift was in order!

Downsizing doesn’t have to mean compromising. This master bath remodel proved to be quite the opposite. The homeowners’ wish list was actually exceeded. Wish we could say that for every project! Not only did the new design accomplish the generous his and her vanities and large shower they desired, but we were able to achieve a semi-private water closet by incorporating a tall armoire, providing extra storage as a bonus. Some aging in place features were added without detracting from the beauty. The finished room feels spacious and bright. Crisp white cabinetry, warm counter tops, and gorgeous tile are inviting and relaxing in this hazy retreat. Matt Villano Photography
Thompson Remodeling
Thompson Remodeling updated this master bath by removing an existing garden tub and replacing it with a tiled, walk-in shower. The new shower features a tile accent wall and details, soap and shampoo niches, and a bench. Other updates include the new cultured marble countertop with ceramic tile backsplash and tile flooring. Here, you see a new built in for storage situated next to the shower.

This little girl's bathroom coordinates well with it's adjacent purple bedroom. The modern white cabinetry and brushed nickel hardware offers continuity and another window seat plus plenty of storage. A large white mirror with heavy crown moulding adorns a stylish vanity space complete with granite countertop and a precious sink basin. Perfect for prepping!
