Large drop-in tub taking up too much space replaced by freestanding tub with floor mounted tub filler. Large two person shower with matte black fixtures. Furniture style vanity. Haven Design and ConstructionRemodeling the master bath provided many design challenges. The long and narrow space was visually expanded by removing an impeding large linen closet from the space. The additional space allowed for two sinks where there was previously only one. In addition, the long and narrow window in the bath provided amazing natural light, but made it difficult to incorporate vanity mirrors that were tall enough. The designer solved this issue by incorporating pivoting mirrors that mounted just below the long window. Finally, a custom walnut vanity was designed to utilize every inch of space. The vanity front steps in and out on the ends to make access by the toilet area more functional and spacious. A large shower with a built in quartz shower seat and hand held shower wand provide touch of luxury. Finally, the ceramic floor tile design provides a mid century punch without overpowering the tranquil space.
Juxtaposed InteriorsThis hall 1/2 Bathroom was very outdated and needed an update. We started by tearing out a wall that separated the sink area from the toilet and shower area. We found by doing this would give the bathroom more breathing space. We installed patterned cement tile on the main floor and on the shower floor is a black hex mosaic tile, with white subway tiles wrapping the walls.
Tracy Berman InteriorsWhen your primary bathroom isn't large, it's so important to address the storage needs. By taking out the built in tub, and adding in a freestanding tub, we were able to gain some length for our vanity. We removed the dropped soffit over the mirrors and in the shower to increase visual space and take advantage of the vaulted ceiling. Interest was added by mixing the finish of the fixtures. The shower and tub fixtures are Vibrant Brushed Moderne Brass, and the faucets and all accessories are matte black. We used a patterned floor to create interest and a large format (24" x 48") tile to visually enlarge the shower. This primary bath is a mix of cools and warms and is now a high functioning space for the owners.
Taylor Made Custom Contracting Inc.In this beautifully refinished hall bathroom, we feature a natural white Carrera marble stone complemented with white porcelain tile. The uniquely shaped shower shows off a hexagon-shaped floor tile, marble accent tile, pencil border, and porcelain wall tile. Included is a custom tempered shower door and half wall with brushed nickel hardware to accent the traditional decor. The 38”x18” custom bench and wall niche maintain a personalized look and functionality to the new shower. To create consistency in the design, both the mirror and the vanity were chosen in the shade “espresso” in addition to brushed nickel hardware for all the accessories. We know that this bathroom will stand the test of time for both design and workmanship.
Cathie Hong InteriorsThis artistic and design-forward family approached us at the beginning of the pandemic with a design prompt to blend their love of midcentury modern design with their Caribbean roots. With her parents originating from Trinidad & Tobago and his parents from Jamaica, they wanted their home to be an authentic representation of their heritage, with a midcentury modern twist. We found inspiration from a colorful Trinidad & Tobago tourism poster that they already owned and carried the tropical colors throughout the house — rich blues in the main bathroom, deep greens and oranges in the powder bathroom, mustard yellow in the dining room and guest bathroom, and sage green in the kitchen. This project was featured on Dwell in January 2022.
123 Remodeling Inc.Our design intent was to revamp a master bathroom that would match the style of the rest of the home, a rustic and industrial look. We removed the tub and converted the shower into a stand up shower which better suited the need for this bathroom. We went with a classic beveled 3×12 subway tile in the shower and created a contrast with a black mosaic hex for the shower floor and niche.
