Interiors by LHDark and lacking functionality, this hard working hall bathroom in Great Falls, VA had to accommodate the needs of both a teenage boy and girl. Custom cabinetry, new flooring with underlayment heat, all new bathroom fixtures and additional lighting make this a bright and practical space. The Lyptus wood chosen for the vanity and linen cabinetry is a unique, sustainable wood species that has become popular with many homeowners. It resembles Mahogany with its grain texture and rich, red coloring but it has more color variation. Lyptus is a hybrid of the Eucalyptus plant and is grown on plantations in South America that are certified to Brazil's sustainable forestry standards. A notable environmental advantage is that trees grow to full maturity in 15 years (compared to 50+ years for most domestic hardwoods). Color is primarily a rich, red brown but can vary dramatically from light pink to very dark brown. Our darker stained finishes temper some of the color variation for a unique and attractive look.

The center piece of the whole bathroom is the shower, using vertical chevron style tile gives the feeling of space and at the same time the chevron shape adds depth.
for the accent of the shower unit we used mosaic 3D shapes of limestone tile and to finish it off a stainless steel hidden drain and a Hansgrohe shower system.

The solution was a set of double pedestal sinks, each with their own mirror and storage. One person can soak in the tub under the window, while the second enjoys the walk-in shower.

Except for the ceiling, we custom designed a glass mosaic hybrid from glossy glass tiles, ocean style bottle glass tiles, and mirrored tiles. This client had dreams of a Caribbean escape in their very own en suite, and we made their dreams come true! The top of the walls start with the deep blues of the ocean and then flow into teals and turquoises, light blues, and finally into the sandy colored floor.
