The cobalt blue porcelain tile on the shower floor also makes a dashing appearance above the wall-mounted Condal ceramic sink, with plenty of room below for a wheelchair. The mirror is a Kensington Pivot model to adjust to the heights of each user.

A Kirkwood, MO couple needed to remodel their condo bathroom to be easily accessible for the husband in his power chair. The original bathroom had become an obstacle course and they needed a streamlined, efficient space.
The new design moves all plumbing fixtures to one wall, which creates a large, open space to maneuver in. A wall-mounted sink works nicely whether standing or sitting. A standard toilet is outfitted with a bidet seat with remote control operation.
The barrier-free, walk-in shower has two impressive accessibility features. The shower faucet panel incorporates a hand held shower, a rainfall head and 8 adjustable nozzles in one convenient, temperature-controlled package. In the opposite corner is a full body dryer with manual or timer control.
Add two kinds of durable and easy to clean floor tile (the blue shower tile also appears on the sink backsplash!), serene grey onyx shower surround and wall paint, and they have a bathroom that makes a beautiful and productive difference in their lives.

A narrow space 1.23 X 3.43 meters,
where every centimetre counts.
North facing window at one end and door at other. Johnson 'Duck Egg Blue' glow in the bright sun shine that filters through the frosted window. Encaustic tiles with granite flex give sandy hues with deco angels. The Frankie metal bath and the Roca toilet were the most compact on the market. Ikea Basin is large in proportion but without a cabinet underneath it fits the space well and services a family of four.
A large yet thin repurposed vintage cupboard with a long mirror has good capacity for storage and tucks behind the bathroom door. The use of pie crust round mirrors adds area and theatre to a bathroom that is relaxing and very functional.

What a beautiful design! The contrast of the blue, white and gold subway tiles work so well together with the marble floor. Check out that quirky gold toilet roll holder that completes the look!

This bathroom was designed to reduce stress and support healing for families and their children with critical illnesses. We bright blues, matte black, and white to create a sense of home, of safety, and of hope. The star of the bathroom is the porcelain tile that looks like patterned cement encaustic tile from All Natural Stone, San Jose.
The furnishings and accessories are durable, functional, and fun, and include: matte black sconce from Sonneman, industrial style dark bronze mirror, a branch table that can be pulled next to the tub for parents supervising kids in the bath, and soft goods from Vintage Bath Los Altos.
We are honored that Melinda Mandell Interior Design was selected to participate in “Where Hope Has a Home” at the Stanford Ronald McDonald House.
We believe in creating safe, nurturing, and healing spaces for all families!

The accessible bath was designed wet-room style. Floors slope toward the shower drain.

The David Hockney 1978 art piece Swimming Pool with Reflection inspired this California-cool bathroom. Watery-blue glass mosaic tile spills down the shower wall and out onto the concrete-gray tile floor in puddles. The custom back-painted glass vanity floats on the blue walls and is anchored by a chrome Kohler faucet, adding a modern sophistication to this fun space perfect for a young boy.

Compact yet functional. This 7'x5' basement bathroom was partially gutted to remove the existing bathtub and reframed to expand the new shower area. The new shower system features a linear drain, floor to ceiling turquoise 4"x4" tiles and 2"x2" mosaics on the floor. The main floor tile is a large format dark "metallic" gray 3'x5' tile which was also used to trim the top and sides of the curb. Black bathroom fixtures were installed and the shower enclosure features a barn door style sliding glass door.
