Chr DAUER ArchitectsA typical post-1906 Noe Valley house is simultaneously restored, expanded and redesigned to keep what works and rethink what doesn’t. The front façade, is scraped and painted a crisp monochrome white—it worked. The new asymmetrical gabled rear addition takes the place of a windowless dead end box that didn’t. A “Great kitchen”, open yet formally defined living and dining rooms, a generous master suite, and kid’s rooms with nooks and crannies, all make for a newly designed house that straddles old and new.

Nar Design GroupThis powder room is gilded with glamor. The rich tones of the walnut wood vanity come forth midst the cool hues of the marble countertops and backdrops. Keeping the walls light, the ornate framed mirror pops within the space. We brought this mirror into the place from another room within the home to balance the window alongside it. The star of this powder room is the repurposed golden swan faucet extending from the marble countertop. We places a facet patterned glass vessel to create a transparent complement adjacent to the gold swan faucet. In front of the window hangs an asymmetrical pendant light with a sculptural glass form that does not compete with the mirror.

Victoria KleinThe early 20th century marble sink with nickel fitting and mirror was the catalyst for the design of the master bath. After a bit of sleuthing the marble was revealed as Arabescato Vagli, and slabs were found for the walls and shower stall. The floor is a herringbone tile Carrara marble and the sconces with glass tubes are from Arteriors Home.

The tub and nickel fittings is also vintage.
