Yes, the cows are real.
The paving is all natural stone, we used different types of natural sandstone in various unit sizes to create the effects and organisation of space.
The aim of the design was to create a sunken garden leading out from the basement. The garden was to be a secluded, comfortable outdoor room and not simply a 'lightwell'. The surrounding landscape is very flat and the winds can be harsh. This layout offers the homeowners shelter.
Aralia: Innovation in Landscape DesignA basement courtyard garden reached from the first floor via an iron stairway. Shade is provided by a metal arbour, beneath which sits a stone table, urns and metal chairs. Natural flagstones continue the traditional theme and the whole feeling is one of shade and coolness.
Garden Gate LandscapingA complete and eclectic rear garden renovation with a creative blend of formal and natural elements. Formal lawn panel and rose garden, craftsman style wood deck and trellis, homages to Goldsworthy and Stonehenge with large boulders and a large stone cairn, several water features, a Japanese Torii gate, rock walls and steps, vegetables and herbs in containers and a new parking area paved with permeable pavers that feed an underground storage area that in turns irrigates the garden. UserOutdoor Elements maximized the available space in this beautiful yard with a contemporary, rectangular pool complete with a large tanning deck and swim jet system. Mosaic glass-tile accents the spa and a shell stone deck and coping add to the contemporary feel. Behind the tanning deck, a large, up-lit, sheer-descent waterfall adds variety and elegance to the design. A lighted gazebo makes a comfortable seating area protected from the sun while a functional outdoor kitchen is nestled near the backdoor of the residence. Raised planters and screening trees add the right amount of greenery to the space.

As far as unique outdoor living spaces go, this entire backyard makeover at Manor Country Club in Rockville, Maryland has the bases covered. A flagstone patio, AZEK-covered deck, cedar pergola, and hot tub were added to make this Montgomery County home stand out. The basement was also renovated and given a stone fireplace.
Situated on Manor's 18th tee box, the patio and pavilion feature open views, low-maintenance plantings, and all of the amenities one needs for entertaining. The integrated hot tub is integrated into the AZEK decking for easy and safe access. We also paved the driveway and laid stone for the front path.
