ADU (Accessory dwelling unit) became a major part of the family of project we have been building in the past 3 years since it became legal in Los Angeles. This is a typical conversion of a small style of a garage. (324sq only) into a fantastic guest unit / rental. A large kitchen and a roomy bathroom are a must to attract potential rentals. in this design you can see a relatively large L shape kitchen is possible due to the use a more compact appliances (24" fridge and 24" range) to give the space even more function a 24" undercounter washer/dryer was installed. Since the space itself is not large framing vaulted ceilings was a must, the high head room gives the sensation of space even in the smallest spaces. Notice the exposed beam finished in varnish and clear coat for the decorative craftsman touch. The bathroom flooring tile is continuing in the shower are as well so not to divide the space into two areas, the toilet is a wall mounted unit with a hidden flush tank thus freeing up much needed space.

This project was a complete gut remodel of the owner's childhood home. They demolished it and rebuilt it as a brand-new two-story home to house both her retired parents in an attached ADU in-law unit, as well as her own family of six. Though there is a fire door separating the ADU from the main house, it is often left open to create a truly multi-generational home. For the design of the home, the owner's one request was to create something timeless, and we aimed to honor that.

The homeowners, an eclectic and quirky couple, wanted to renovate their kitchen for functional reasons: the old floors, counters, etc, were dirty, ugly, and not usable; lighting was giant fluorescents, etc. While they wanted to modernize, they also wanted to retain a fun and retro vibe. So we modernized with functional new materials: quartz counters, porcelain tile floors. But by using bold, bright colors and mixing a few fun patterns, we kept it fun. Retro-style chairs, table, and lighting completed the look.

Voici une cuisine laquée noir mat avec un îlot blanc. Une belle cuisine qui se distingue par son élégance sans négliger tous les aspects pratiques d’une pièce de vie. Les crédences blanches sont assorties à " l’îlot" en L qui vient épouser les hautes colonnes de meubles noirs. La lumière est très présente grâce à l’ensemble des Leds encastrées sous les meubles hauts, et grâce aux luminaires vintage suspendus. Tout est pris en compte dans la conception d’intérieur pour réaliser une cuisine agréable, fonctionnelle et unique. L’épi (presqu’ile) est composé de meuble blancs et d’un plan en céramique blanche soutenu par un meuble déco en bois vintage. Cette composition, comme un trompe l’œil, ajoute une note d’élégance et de légèreté à la cuisine. Ce meuble de cuisine sur mesure semble flotter au milieu de la pièce comme un îlot central.
