“I worked with my client in providing zoned living and entertaining areas of the highest standards. As a result, my client had an emphasis on creating a family environment in which they could entertain friends and family for any occasion. I immediately noticed the properties classic period façade when I met with my client at their property. The layout was very open which allowed me and my client to experiment with different colours and fabrics. By having a large expansive space we could use accent colours more strongly as they blended into the room easier than in a confined space. The use of the grey and white colour palette allowed for the space to remain bright and fresh. We gave this corner fireplace a modern makeover by using vertically placed staggered slate tile from Floor & Decor. Originally 12"x12", we had them cut in half to 6"x12" tiles and installed them vertically to highlight the height of the walls in the space. The wooden mantle is a planed white oak over 100 years old from a local source for reclaimed barn wood, called Porter Barn Wood. The client wanted to use several photos from old family albums to create a wall of frames, which we arranged into a layout to hang on the wall leading into the master bedroom.

This house needed absolutely everything doing to it, re-wiring, re-plumbing, new windows, under pinning, new heating system, new kitchen, new bathrooms, everything. But that does give you a wonderful blank canvas once the fresh plaster has dried! Here we have Stiffkey Blue on the walls below the picture rail and then Wimborne White above and on the ceiling and woodwork apart from the skirting, where we have carried the moody blue all the way to the floor to meet the dark stained oak boards. Hints of mustard yellow makes the blue really pop in the ceiling pendent, table lamp, throws and cushions. The look is finished off with white painted wooden wardrobes from The White Company and shutters from The Cambridge Shutter Company. Gorgeous!
