Houzz features plenty of properties from the Victorian and Edwardian eras, which tend to come with their own character and charm. It's much harder to create that in a bland new build, so I'm delighted to see more of these, so we can see how to make the most of them without adding 'fake' period details. This is very restful and practical. Like BH, I also wondered about the huge blank windows at night. There seems to be a vogue for not dressing them in any way, but at the very least, I'd have though some vertical louvre blinds would be required to avoid feeling as though you're in a fish bowl ?! [I have some at the window of my study, and would hate to be without them, especially at this time of year. Having the blinds closed actually makes the room feel warmer and lighter.]

I like the pop of colour the painting brings to the living room. It’s functional but beautiful nonetheless
