I love a room to feel alive with colour, vibrancy, interest and personality so all these are a bit plain and lifeless for me.

Three elements to add interest to almost anything including a room (or outfit) are colour, texture and pattern. For me it depends on the room, size, purpose, climate etc and I add layers as I go. The decor can vary from pale and calm to bright and vivacious, there are lots of options. Anything but dull and clinical.

I think the comment about pattern in curtains is overkill may be right! I had such a dilemma with my new curtains as I had grey patterned ones which were falling apart. I wanted new and wanted silver velvet but the price was quite high considering the size of the window. So I decided to get a patterned curtain with taupe and aqua bird and flowers... not sure I’m convinced on them but I think it’s the wall paint that been the real problem. It’s lavender grey but more like lilac! We are moving rooms next year so I’m gonna wait to repaint in a neutral warm white or F&B Wevex like the furniture and then I think the curtains will feel less mismatched. Anyway, any advice to make this a better room? I need some pictures in the frames. Was thinking of some botanical prints or even dried flowers. I want the room to feel calm, relaxed, connected. Yet more of a vintage vibe.

By the way i know the throw doesn’t sit right... i have another that is larger but this was handy to just dress the room a bit.
