A thought...maybe have the inner part of the locker seat have a storage area underneath it (accessible by lifting the seat), but not have it extend the full width of the seat. This will allow space for tall shoes/boots at the front of the shoe storage space.

Maybe shoes should go into baskets underneath each locker. That's how we do things in the NYC apartment. May be better than having shoes loose on the floor in the space under each locker.
