This house is a 4 story house that is built into a very steep up-hill site that had a flat area once the slope was conquered.
At that flat area, the main floor was placed along with a large deck with great access to the hillside (instead of being on stilts, as is common)
The House also was design to meet the Wildland-Urban Interface fire resistant design as per the California Building Code.
