I think it's mainly a matter of taste -- both should clean pretty well.

Hi all. This is the plan for our new living room. It is our first home and I would love some help on choosing the right furniture for the space. We are a family of 2 adults and 2 children and I will have my parents visiting a lot. We are in Ireland but if you could post ideas, I'm sure i would be able to find similiar options here. Finding it hard to visualise the space and what will fit best. The room is 3850mm by 4050mm. As you can see a door leads from the hallway and another glass door then into the kitchen. There is a full wall between the kitchen and living room and the room is North facing. I would love to hear any ideas or suggestions you have on what to do with the space, what colours would look good, flooring, a good furniture layout, general interior design suggestions. Thankyou

Since you have the dining table right there, I suggest you forego the bar stools. You can then make the peninnsula 100 cm deep with cabinets on both sides, 60 and 40 cm deep. That way you will add loads of storage space without trying to fit in a pantry. Also talll upper cabinets all the way to the ceiling, you can store rarely used stuff out of sight.
