We are in the process of finishing our house and our builder didn’t follow the plans for the front porch. The builder went 220ml higher at the top of the porch than what was on the plans. The house has 100 ml of external insulation so lowering it now would affect the external insulation but we’re now open to any suggestions to improving the appearance of the porch. We intend to put two bay trees on either side of the porch in the recess and an up/down light above each tree. There will be granite paving at the base of the porch. We are considering putting cedar or larch cladding in the recess surrounding the door. Should we request the builder to lower the top of the porch or would some sort of design feature such as the cladding in the recess be enough to improve the appearance?

Hi all. I was wondering if anyone had any advice on my house plan. For the upstairs I plan on taking the bath out of the main bathroom and putting it in my ensuite, also will put the wardrobes on both sides of the wall walking in. I have a large family so all the rooms are needed. I just sold out last home and this one has only 2 extra rooms, the office and the sun room so I know what we need. The playroom will turn into a den when the kids get older. The office will double as a spare room as we don't live near our families so they visit regularly. Iv went back to my architect and had multiple changes but I still feel its not right. If anyone has any advice it would be much appreciated, thanks

Hi, wondering if anyone could help me with a design query. We’re converting our garage to utility and bathroom, the bathroom will need to go at the front of the house though so the existing up and over door will be removed and replaced with a wall/windows. I’m really not sure how this should look though. If anyone has any ideas? I thought maybe wood cladding or render/windows. Plans and picture of existing below.
