Bedroom Request for Floorplan Advice

Hi all,
I’m seeking advice on choosing the best floorplan layout for a master bedroom suite renovation and would really appreciate your input! I’ve attached several options (see images) and would love feedback on those and alternative options!

Key objectives:
• Maximizing Wardrobe Space: I need as much wardrobe/storage space as possible, ideally with easy access and a sense of openness rather than feeling cramped.
• Optimizing Natural Light: The room has a bay window and I want to make sure the layout allows for the best use of natural light, especially in the main sleeping area and, if possible, the dressing space.

Other considerations:
• The suite includes an en-suite bathroom and a dressing area in some layouts.
• I’m open to moving doors or making minor changes if it helps achieve the objectives.
• The bed position is flexible, but I’d like it to feel spacious and not block the light from the bay window.
Has anyone faced similar decisions or have thoughts on which of these layouts best balances wardrobe space and natural light?

Any clever ideas for layout tweaks or storage solutions would be amazing!

Would a headboard (1/2, 3/4) wall give you enough light for the dressing area?

we are at the very beginning of a project on our house ( kitchen extension with extra bedroom). after about 8 weeks dealing with our architect we are still waiting for the wow factor. we have discussed the floor plans and have now seen a 3d render but there has been absolutely no 'design' element discussed or suggested by our architect. we are getting very frustrated and are beginning to lose faith as we discussed at the very beginning our desire to do something brave and design-led. are we expecting too much at this stage? would love some advice either from other architects or anyone who has experience! just getting a bit frustrated. thanks!!

Thank you for this and for attaching the photo to demonstrate! Lovely idea and would be ideal in the room. I’m not sure what you mean by extending the curtains? I was wondering about adding a recessed curtain rail and having it in an L shape to fit the other window too. Or maybe curtains on the large window and a Roman blind on the smaller one? I prefer the flow and functionality of option 1. Would you consider merging the utility and bathroom into 1? With downstairs bedrooms, you have a challenge with noise, especially if the loo is your main downstairs facility. So noise insulation will be key. There are lots of great products that you should get advice on for the partition walls but also between floors depending on what is above the bedroom.

These pictures are great, we will definitely do something with the small garden but I was thinking that the entrance floor which currently holds two living rooms will never be used unless we change this to the kitchen / living area as this is currently where we spend all our time. We could still have a small kitchenette in the basement next to the large sitting room to sit out on a nice day but otherwise I feel we will spend all our time on the entrance floor / first floor

i don't like No.1 because i dont' want to have to walk all the way around the bed to get to the bathroom/dressing. i don't like No.4 because i wouldn't like the open space behind my head when sleeping - i know it's a great layout that really works, but you've got loads of space so don't think you need to do that - plus it kind of cuts the bay window in half and i wouldn't want to be looking directly into dressing area from bed.

No.2 and No.3 are v similar but my preference would be No.3 as the door opens into the middle of the space and leaves the bed in a nice nook rather than walking straight into it when you come in the door - more privacy and not in the walkway, and keeps the dressing area out of view when in bed. if there's already a door at that point i'd consider leaving it and having two entrances to the room - just in case you want to add more storage in the dressing area and close off that area a little bit - which would also allow you to then add a door between bedroom and dressing, so that an early riser could get up and leave the bedroom and do all the morning stuff without disturbing sleeping partner.

I’ll opt for no 3 , I don’t like it when everything is visible, I believe um old school.
