The pic of your space and the image are very different. I would approach it differently. Would simple oak floating shelves work in the space between the pillars? As you appear to have a bulkhead that slatted wood effect on the ceiling won't work there. If you really like the look of wooden slats (I do too) you could line the back of the recess with slatted panelling.

At the moment you have nothing in the room so the bulkhead screams out at you. Once it is furnished (is it a kitchen?) it will not show up so much. Are the walls staying white?

I would leave the ceiling white for now. It also depends on what type of lighting you are installing. Are you planning downlighters? Look at all your ideas together and see if they gel before painting a ceiling a colour or covering it in wooden slatted panelling. I do really like your inspo pic though and can see where you are coming from.

That would be a kitchen open space with living room, and I would like to have a downlighter on that ceiling above the dining table. All the walls will be white. This is how the furniture will be looking in that room, plus a sofa of course

I like your floor choice. Is it engineered oak? You are keeping it very neutral so painting the ceiling a slate blue or grey would work very well.

Lighting can make a big difference in the space. I think if you go for some nice oak shelves with some statement pendant lighting it'll look really nice. A good rug under the table too
