What colour carpet?
Comments (22)If you have a Lowe's nearby, take a look at the Pergo Driftwood Pine Laminate Flooring (top photos.) Even though it has a rustic, beach house feel, I love the color. It's a silvery/white/taupe (for lack of a better description) and that would be striking with your wall color, white bedding and black/brown bed. My other suggestion would be Brazilian Teak, (bottom photos) which is beautiful. It really depends on what makes you feel good and what you love living in! Comments (8)With the wood trim, and a white crown . .. I think the duvet color scheme wants white painted skirting and window / window sill. Then, try a softer violet on the accent wall .. .since both the red or the blue could coordinate with that but otherwise we have opposites - As a backdrop, violet can be nice with gray and white. Look at bm faded violet http://www.benjaminmoore.com/en-us/paint-color/fadedviolet#ce_s=violet and bm picket fence for the other walls, ( a soft warm off white that echos the tone of the carpet) with crisp white trim. http://www.benjaminmoore.com/en-us/paint-color/picketfence If you want a deep shade, look at wood violet .. http://www.benjaminmoore.com/en-us/paint-color/woodviolet#ce_s=violet the thing with a small room is that a shot of intense color can do a lot if paired mostly with neutrals and white. Great if you have a white wood headboard or padded slipcover above the bed, white matted art. . .. you do have good natural light, but with a dark wall you will want bedside lighting to be light and bright for nighttime. Here, the wood provided a gold element that was sort of helpful with the blue but will clash with where you are going.. Paint it out, and voila, you are on your way. . . there is a thread where a woman focused on white with coral - I'll find it and bring you the link so you can follow her decision making - she chose a strong accent wall in a small room and then concentrated on white and it is lovely....See MoreLiving Room too dark
Comments (11)Agree with alant1000 about starting from scratch, but not sure about white. They are some lovely either light grey, light green, or light caramel, which will keep the room warm feeling, and less stark. The wallpaper feature wall you presently have is far too dark for the room - if you want wallpaper, there are some lovely sparkle designs, or stick to paint and do a slightly darker colour than the chosen wall colour. Have you thought about painting the doors white? The dark curtains do not help either. Do you need curtains and vertical blinds? If you lost the curtains, the window would look neater and lighter. Hope this helps....See MoreWall & window covering colours
Comments (10)Hello niamh6426, A nicely proportioned set of rooms.. Lovely features, nicely done! Bring the sofa in the opening further into the room so it doesn't block the flow... Ideally move it away from the french doors? So a few things to suggest here.. Why not paint above the picture rail the white to tie in with the ceiling.. the lavender and sage work nicely and so it really is which you might want to pick out.. I'm thinking of the chimney breast to bring it out into the room with even more focus..... A deeper purple/grey, charcoal or deeper olive green ... With any of these colours you could have some light charcoal accessories... Silk cushions etc.. The colours would also work with the existing wall paint. Rather like the charcoal colour and it would work with a slightly darker greyish purple too, so throws and other cushions could be also very complimentary.. :))...See MoreJuliet Docherty
