Mock Tudor Update - what would you do?
Hi there everyone, first question from me here and I would love some advice on how to make our forever home a little brighter, prettier and more current? We love the brick so definitely don’t want to render it all but perhaps part of it/change the windows and boards or up for any suggestions pleeeaaase 🙏

Comments (20)HI -- Well the wallpaper was just done so there is no changing that , soooo I think you should paint the rest of that wall the same white as the white background of the wallpaper and paint fireplace mantel too. Then have two small matching cabinets painted the blue from the paper or the leaf color placed on each side of the fireplace. . Then have white or glass shelves above , maybe three is best . Now the rest of the room painted the exact color of your sofa . Because the room looks small I think it would look best to have the sofa blend into the walls color wise. Now just keep some of your room accents in the blue color but not too much. Remember not to clutter the shelves and if you don't want the shelves then have a large painting on each side and have a big round mirror over the mantel and keep the small items off the mantel and onto the side cabinets ....See MoreNeed help updating bathroom
Comments (21)My understanding: You didn't find any problem functionally, but you feel this looks old & need some brightness & change in this. My advise: 1). Remove towel rod, shift it next to tub or behind closet & have full length mirror, which will make your space double & reflect natural light as well thus makes the space more bright. 2). Get couple of plants (small plants or bush type or creepers which doesn't occupy much space on floor but grows vertically). 3). Get some artifacts made from bright colored glass, can flower vase or wall hangings or glass tiles etc, these can be of yellow or Bright Orange color these are to be hung on walls opp to mirror or pasted(3M tape both side glued) if you are using tiles. 4). Get a mat of same color as artifacts & place between tub & closet. these all are easily done by yourself. last monthWhat a beautiful home, modern but full on Tudor charm with the beams, patterned bricks and leaded windows. I’m sure I saw Ann Boleyn peeping through the window just now! A great way to update it but keep the character is to paint the window frames and beams a soft shade, be it grey, taupe or stone, as Jonathan suggested. A pub near me has changed the beams and windows from black to pale grey (first pic) and I think it looks lovely. It’s a very old pub. Here’s more pics to hopefully inspire you.

last monthI have removed some of the horizontal lines- personally I think it looks a bit ordinary and suburban and I prefer to see more architectural interest
