Recess Curtains?

So I am thinking of fitting a recessed curtain pole in each of these windows, and then hanging one curtain in each tied back nicely …. as I cannot think of any other way, because there is no wall space to the left of the left-hand window … I’d be grateful for any alternative ideas …

I think it would block a lot of light. Sorry not the best pictures but you could layer up.

Keep the venetians and add a roman or roller plus roman or just shutters or even add a pelmet.

What do you not like about the existing?

i recently added relaxed roman blinds (last pic but not mine) to a couple of rooms, they’re not great for daily use but i suspect they could be layered effectively if you’re wanting a softer look

How about BM dove white on all the walls with a navy on the window wall,that wood give plenty of light in the room while using your favorite color.Lots of color goes well with navy ,kelly green ,lime green ...yellow ,orange,hot pink

Hello Jen, I am so surprised that no one has mentioned vertical blinds to you? They are very much back in fashion and work beautifully in a room such as yours. They come in 3.5" veins, which mean they will fold back and tuck into each recess when fully open. They turn to let as much light in as you need and then close when you want full privacy. They will be fitted in the recess above the windows. You can either have one complete rail length or two so you have a separate section over the door. You can have what's know as a middle split, i.e: half goes left and right. Personally I would suggest one length that opens to the left, therefore leaving your door completely uncovered when open. The pulley system is very much like a roller blind and are safety fixed to the wall so children can not get caught in them. They come in a huge rang of colours and materials and better still they are very affordable. I am working with a number of new developments in Hertfordshire at the moment and these are what the clients are all asking for. Morning You say that privacy isn't an issue so I would dress the main window and the small window on the left hand wall with roman blinds. I would mount the blinds outside of the recess t make more of a feature and not steal any of the light. Regarding the two narrow windows I would leave them undressed and get two matching vases, ornaments etc and place them on the window sill to make a feature. I think that blinds would be too fussy and would detract from the rest of the room. If you wanted privacy you could always add some frosting to the two narrow windows The furniture you've chosen is beautiful I'm sure it will look fab! I can't zoom in on your photo to get a closer look. Maybe you could take some close up shots. Alternatively you can add a contemporary pelmet box above and the blinds can be mounted into this. I would recommend having them custom made by a professional company with a quality installer. Roman blinds on a chain side winder mounted above the doors would also work well. Ooooo I like that idea 😎 was a bit worried about blinds on blinds ….. there’s not much clearance on the far left window though 🤔

I still think you need Roman blinds outside the window recess. Fit them close to the ceiling and visually they will l lend height to the room (so they serve a decorative purple pose only). Then you need something inside the recess to block out the light such as your current blinds, plantation shutters or a roller blind.

Thank you but fitting them outside is not feasible…. There’s literally no space to the left of the left window …..

Thanks all 🙂 pretty sure I’m keeping the blinds we have but will now add Roman blackout blinds to soften the look 😎
