Dining table width, 110cm or 120cm?

Hey all. Just ordering our dining room table which will be 240cm long, and can’t decide if we go for 110cm or 120cm width - the room can comfortably take either.

We saw one in the store today which was 120cm width, and the proportions of the overall table looked good (240cm long), and the extra width means that you could fit two people next to each other at the ends if you’ve got a house full (like Christmas time).

The negative would be a slight increase in cost (not massive), but more importantly we’re going from a table that currently has only 90cm width, so when the wife and I sat opposite each other in the store on the 120cm width one, it felt like we were miles apart!

Just wondered what everyone else thinks/has/wants, and any general advice. Thanks!

Wider tables are great. My table. is 120 wide, it fills the room nicely and more importantly there is room in the middle for serving plates. You only feel like you are further apart because you are not used to it because generally restaurant tables are small in order to fit more in

If you often have people round for dinner then wider would be better. Mine table is 90cm wide (extendable) and it suits us well.
