Advice for bathroom accessories/ design choices
Hi
we have just moved into our first home and are trying to decorate the bathroom without buying a new one yet. laid a bold patterned vinyl ourselves because the tiles are all white (little grey & black squares too). We are planning on changing the fixtures to black. so working with black, grey, white, beige. could any offer advise for colour suggestions for the following please:
-bath mat ( i was thinking beige?)
- bin, soap dispenser etc
- what colour to paint the wooden bath pane? white or grey?
also should i add a slim mirror on the wall straight ahead of the door?
any design or accessorising
ideas would be greatly appreciated thank you!

7 months agoWe did one similar with a cheap refurb. We replaced our panels with wood we cut ourselves, but the colour was a blue grey which worked well with the black beige grey scheme. I added some greenery and black accessories

Comments (36)I would also definitely go white if the windows are on the green wall. Will be much more natural to tie the accent wall with the stark wht contrasting walls. Always a very chic contemporary look. Also very relaxing as opposed to the treatments standing out when you already have your standout feature- the green accent wall. Great white bed you ordered! Then I love all the blue/green/ silver accent advice. I did a similar room in purples/greys/ whites and we used great posted prints of florals with a little oriental flair in nice big mats w frames. You could do florals or nice big botanicals in greens would be very fresh and modern!! White or silver frames or maybe even the shock of black would be cool....See MoreUpcycle mental block! Comments (7)Dear Éilíse Sullivan, the mahogany wardrobe looks like a great project! The image is too small for me to see the details of it; it looks like has glass/metal door at the top part and design details on the draws. If you send me a better quality image and with the door closed I can visualised it for you in any other colour you like if it helps. Replacing part of the furniture (glass) with solid panels covered in wall paper or fabric, using decoupage for the inside of the drawers or muted colours on the outside and brights on the inside ... are all possibility depending in which room you want to place it and what you are going to use it for. Are you going to do it for yourself, just for fun or to sell/present? I would paint the back panel in a darker colour, also the inside of the wardrobe part and all the horizontal and vertical straight lines to frame the different units: draws, 'open shelf' cabinet at the top and door. I would go for wall paper on the inside of the draws, something sympathetic with the darker tone on the back panel ... the handle can stay or be replaced (I need a closer look); they can really give a wist to the furniture if changed. For the choice of colours ... it really depend on where it goes and what you want to do with it. The room's images you posted are quite different in style. You could try to 'blend' the piece in to the room's design scheme by choosing complementary colours or go the opposite and bring in a bold statement. I like bold statements! Large tiles do make a room feel bigger as the pattern is less busy however I've seen the hex tiles in small bathrooms and they seem to work as your inspiration pic shows. I would probably lose the flowers though if I'm honest. Do you want the window for light or ventilation? Could a decent extractor be sufficient? I'm thinking that back ŵall could look quite busy. Is there any opportunity to change the layout? Moving soil pipes can be a little costly but could the sink be moved although ideally the loo would be hidden round the corner. You can pick up some great looking vintage or vintage style taps on ebay although unsure if the quality of the repro ones, If the layout can't be changed maybe have a corner loo and ŵall hung trough sink and put some storage in on the rhs as you come through the door depending on how you plan for the shower to open...See More

7 months agoLove the flooring. I’ve just had a similar vinyl laid in mine. I would perhaps paint the radiator wall one of the floor shades, maybe the grey, to have a bit of impact. You could also paint the bath panel the same shade but in eggshell/satinwood to keep it waterproof. Is the darker shade chocolate or black? Towels could be any colour within the flooring and bath mat in white. Get 2 or 3 bath mats so you can rotate them in the wash when necessary, Home Bargains have several and a good price.

7 months agoI agree with Jonathan, i think bitter chocolate would look great and mirror over the radiator and add a plant. i find the shower curtain too white too. This off white with chocolate stripe with chocolate stripe would work and the off white bath in the middle. Perhaps you could add a coup,e of dark wood shelves over the loo for plant, candle etc

7 months agoI bought a dove grey bath mat in Sainsbury's sale at the weekend. I hoped it would be a light grey, but it's more a beige grey which I don't think works in my room. It could work in your bathroom though.
