correct cooker hood

Apologies in advance for the stupid question but could someone please advise me on the correct cooker hood i need, and if so

i would be grateful? i am having a false breast wall built in my kitchen for a 110cm range oven and a mantel. I have ordered a 90cm canopy extractor which arrived today and my electrician has told me its the wrong one. Do i need to buy a chimney hood that would ordinarily go above the range and then build the breast wall around it or is there another type that i need? thanks

I think you have bought the right thing. Is it possible it just doesn’t fit? Perhaps the fake chimney isn’t deep enough? I think you need more information

Thanks jonathan. the breast wall hasnt been built as yet, the builder said there are no brackets with the extractor so in order to make it fit he would have to build a timber housing unit and then build the breast wall around that, and that just seems a lot of work so i thought i must have bought the wrong one? its been a lot of drama over an extractor!

I would suggest white cabinets with a dark grey Caesarstone counter. The splashback will be the variable with lots of options. This scheme is a lighter and more neutral alternative to the masculine dark grey. Both are great! Good luck, Mary

I'm thinking the same way Darzy,maybe I will go with all the same or find a nice tile. I am getting ready to refit my kitchen so may need some help.i am thinking of a grey coloured farrow and ball colour on the bottom cabinets and white on the top. On the back wall of the kitchen I have a brick chimney hood so this time I would like to do something different and not as bulky looking so was thinking of doing a small mantle and just putting a downdraft behind my cooking hob if anyone can advise does the downdrafter really work?

Hi. The kitchen looks lovely. As the windows are lower than the units I would avoid tiling or a splashback all the way round the kitchen. Maybe just either go for a decorative tiled splashback behind the hob or use a glass splashback. Keep it simple with clear/light coloured glass or look at other decorative ideas with wallpaper, art etc. Alternatively just tile that oven ŵall about a foot high, handmade metro tiles in a pale olive would look nice. I noticed you like copper so I don't know if this is an idea? A15) @Dara Cooke: If you can't afford a quartz or granite worktop from day one then I would recommend using a laminate worktop as a temporary solution. If you don't put tiles up as a backsplash then replacing the worktops can be relatively easy in a couple of years.

So he’s just trying to pass a problem onto you then?
Yes your extractor needs to be suspended over the hob and any joiner can construct this.
