What bathroom paint would you recommend?

Hi, what paint would people recommend for the bathroom in an old house, some mild low level damp. Thanks

Firstly prime the damp patches with something like Dulux Damp Seal, then use a moisture resistent paint like Dulux Easy Care Bathroom. That's what I use.

I've used Wilko's bathroom/kitchen paint for a redecoration lately.

The end result is actually rather good (once dry, it's a hard, nonporous, smooth and well-wipeable surface). I tend to spraypaint, and for that, the paint is difficult to use - it's relatively thin to start with, and to be able to spray it, had to be thinned further. The result is that it needed a day to dry for a single coat. But it dries a lot quicker - and very hard - on the equipment, so frequent sprayer-cleaning was required. And with the paint relatively thin, I applied four coats (aka ... four days) for the finish desired. Well, spraying latex paint is usually "not recommended" - all my own fault :-)

Here's what I've found after living in and visiting many tract homes- LR-13x18 FR-12x16 (and that they not be in the middle of the traffic flow pattern aka many tract homes post ww2 till about the late 50's) Kitchen (no eating area) 9x11 DR/Nook or other eating area 10x10 Entry-at least 3'6" wide 4' better Bedrooms (good design would at least provide 2 good bed walls aka no doors or windows in it) MBR-12x13 w/ at least 10 linear feet of closets All other bedrooms-10x10 with at least 5 linear ft of closets all closets 2' deep, Baths-5x8 but 5x9 better if fixtures lined up on one wall and tub/shower at end 7x8 and 8x8 with the tub/shower fully accessible if it's 5 ft long 6x8 if it's a 3' shower (fixtures lined up on 2 opposite walls). If you look and many floor plans the best ones will have all of this. Note that square footage does not have to be a lot-ciculation/flow between rooms helps this.

Hi there, We're in Kilkenny and we're lighting designers. A lot depends on budget but if you are re-fitting areas we could recommend fittings for the walls plus how about highlighting the top of wall with a good bathroom uplighter around edge - LED perhaps. The issue is that it is too flat as the colours are similar. If you added more depths of light it would help greatly. Of course we do a full range of bathroom fittings too so even a simple thing like two well chosen wall lights would help significantly. If it was me, I would centre it and only silicone the back. I understand your concerns about water going down the side. Realistically, though, as you will only be washing your hands and maybe teeth in it, there is unlikely to be much water gushing about. To detract from the fact there is not as much space on either side of sink, I would have carpenter either wall mount or put legs on the cabinet so there is space underneath and the unit doesn't look too chunky!
