Recirculating extractor fan

Has anyone got a recirculating extractor fan that hangs over the hob on an island? I'm thinking of the ones that look more like a light/feature such as the Faber belle.Does it get in the way? Are they any good? Thanks

Give Falmec a try, they have some beautiful and effective recirculating extractors in the style you're looking for. If positioned in relation to your height they won't get in the way when working at the hob but when compared to vented hobs they will always block the view/sight lines more.

I assume you mean a wood burning stove as fireplace as opposed to a wood burning stove as cooking stove? Takes all kinds to make a world and it's not the first time I've seen the idea. It depends on the strength of the fan. Pulling too many cubic feet per minute may suck smoke and carbon monoxide into the living area from the stove. Make up air ventilation, outside air, is required for fans over a certain CFM. I can't quote code on this one, but the make up air prevents negative pressure within the house. A sealed combustion firebox is probably OK, the air for combustion on such a unit would also come form outside. The EPA rated wood burning fireplace from Fireplace Xtrodinaire is an example. I might consider one of the top extractors instead as it will be easier to fit a glass slashback up to a straight extractor. Personally I think the chrome looks more expensive.

Hi All, I am trying to decide on a recirculating extractor and the kitchen company I am going with are really selling these Bora basic extractor hobs for the kitchen island. They seem like a good idea and look great but I am finding it very hard to find online reviews from people who actually have them & use them in their homes.
