Lighting Ideas for New Build

Hello Interior Geniuses
Too confused at the moment about lighting our small living area. Just need suggestions for area lighting for island, dining and living. Do I put individual pieces i.e pendent/chandelier lighting in all of these areas or should I just go with a bold Island or living area lighting and let the others be normal recessed lights?
P.S. the ceiling height is 2.4m so can't have long drop pieces.
