Curtain arrangements help

Hi,

I would like to install electric curtain in my flat. In order to install electric curtains I need at least +80cm of the length of the window. Unfortunately, I don’t have that much space on the left and right windows.

My idea is to setup the curtains like this:

Left window: curtain opens to the right
Middle window: curtains opens in the middle
Left window: curtain opens to the left

Do you think this would look ok? I prefer to have all curtains to open in the middle. However I am afraid that would cover too much of the window.

Any suggestions are welcome. Thank you very much.

I presume you mean you need 80cm each side of window? Why?

Actually, I need 40cm each side of the window. The reason is that the electric curtain motor needs some space. Otherwise the curtain will cover quite a lot of the window.

Faux silk has come along way and can be a more appropriate material for home owners who live near the ocean and/or have South-Southwest exposure. Atmospheric conditions combined with direct sunlight is the most damaging. Replacing your panels with another set of silk/faux-silk panels might not provide enough of the design change your looking for. Hello there... I hope I can be of some help as I have almost an identical sitting room - I will just share with you my sitting room this year!! All the walls started out in Dulux Timeless colour so I wanted to add an accent colour- like you, I have one end of the room that is patio doors. So the opposite wall to those, I chose as an accent wall - I know a lot of people suggest not having an accent wall but perhaps having horizontal painted stripes of colour etc... But as I was doing the painting, I knew I would have made a real hash of that!! So the third pic is my first attempt at an accent wall - The Greene Paint company - colour Bassalt. This was nice but I just got bored of it - it worked well against the richness of the wood floor etc and was very much a statement but in a few months I just couldn't settle with it. After several coats of white I have now settled on Farrow & Balls colour Lamp Room Grey. I know this seems all very neutral, but from the second photo you will see I have gone for cream curtains with neutral vertical pom-poms - but, by doing all this, I can now change the accent colour in this room at the drop of a hat and quite importantly - INEXPENSIVELY! For instance, if I wanted to, for Xmas, if I was going to spend a lot of time in that room, I could a. Go for red and cream cushions and create a Scandinavian look! Or b. Go for silver beaded cushions and silver candle jars and have a winter wonderland look! And equally in the summer, I could go for pastel pink floral cushions and a vase of delicate roses to bring the garden into the sitting room or just keep it neutral with ivory roses and a hint of lime green. So my advice would be to keep the expensive things neutral and then you can alter the in expensive things as you go along. I also think one expensive piece in any room is a good investment - be it a huge oversized pewter bowl or a something similar - that again is neutral in colour but is a statement piece. How to fit curtains when windows are over radiators?

Hi all! Hope you can help me. I’m renting a house and doing small decor upgrades do give it a bit of my taste, so I’m changing the curtains. The problem is all the radiators are located under the windows. I like the full length floor to ceiling style but I’m afraid it will affect the radiators efficiency. I was told to fit the curtains just below the end of the windows, but it doesn’t seem right to me. Could someone help , please? Thanks! 😊

Would you not be better off sticking with blinds due to the radiators? You can get electric ones (wish I’d thought of it when we put Romans in our spare bedroom as I struggle to reach!)

What a beautiful serene room. Don't clutter it with curtains, give space for the interesting items you have standing near the windows. . (Or maybe just a curtain for the doors?)

I prefer to have to curtains because it also helps reducing the outside noise.
I was thinking of removing the wooden radiator “concealer” anyway since it would obstruct the curtains.

So, do you need 3 separate motors, taking 40cm each, at one side of each window. Will the motors be disguised? If they will, by curtains, won't the curtains be uneven each side, and if you evened them up, they'd not open in middle of window. Am so confused, or maybe you are too and that is the dilemma you have?

40cm seems quite a lot. These Silent Gliss motors are only 60mm wide.

Thank you for the input. All electric curtain work very similarly. The motor might be just 60mm wide but as you can see on the picture the gliders and carrier both need additional space. If you attach fabric to those gliders you need even more space depending on what kind of fabric it is.

Ok, in your opening post you mentioned the left window twice. So would left window have curtain drawn on the left, and right window drawn on the right like this?
